A/N: Whoooo Last chapter!
Aden's POV
It's been three days since Adam and his friends attacked my father's castle. They did it to rescue my sister, Eden, but they ended up rescuing me as well. One of them was badly injured in the process and they wouldn't have made it back to Craft City in time to save him. So we went to a small town a few hundred blocks inland from the shore of the ocean. Luckily we were able to find enough instant health and regen potions to heal everyone's wounds, even my broken ribs. However potions can't heal everything. Eden ended up having a severe breakdown because she almost killed our father. I don't really understand why but I guess I can see where she's coming from. He's a sick son of a bitch but he's still our father... right? Anyway it took us a while but Adam and I were finally able to calm her down.
Considering everything that happened, Adam and his friends along with Eden and I have decided to stay here in this town for a while. We want to take a break from it all and forget our problems for a few days. The recruits that helped with the rescue have gone back to Craft City to inform Sky Army of what's been going on. Eden's friends, Connor and Temperance, went with them because they have to go through Craft City in order to get to Spawn City where Machinama's headquarters are.
Anyway that's enough about the past, so let's get to the present. The fourteen of us are gathered in the living room. Eden stands in the doorway having just come down from a room upstairs. It's her first time out of that room since she looked herself in it three days ago. I stand to the right of the door leaning against the wall. Adam, Jason, Ty and Ian sit on a couch to the right of me. Mitch is sitting in a chair while Jerome leans on the back of it. Ryan, Antvenom, and Jordan are standing near the wall in the back of the room. Lastly, Bodil, Seto, and Quentin sit on a second couch opposite of the first one.
"Earth to Aden." Eden waves her hand in front of my face.
"Huh! Wha?" I voice awkwardly, completely oblivious to what is happening.
"Are you okay? You seem to be kinda out of it." She speaks again, her voice laced with concern.
"Uh... Yeah! I'm fine just lost in thought I guess." I stutter quickly.
"About what?" Adam asks.
I shrug. "I don't know really. This place just seems kinda familiar."
"So you've noticed too huh?" I nod my head and Adam continues. "Well I'm glad I'm not the only one."
Eden giggles lightly. "You two have no idea where we are, do you?"
"And how would you know where we are!?" We both exclaim at the same time.
She giggles again. "I'd recognize this place anywhere! It's Coal Town."
"Oh," is all Adam and I manage to say in our slightly shocked states.
"What's so important about Coal Town?" Jerome asks.
"It's our hometown," Adam states softly. Looks of understanding replace all the confused faces in the room. After a few minutes of awkward silence Adam starts to speak again. "Anyway! Back to what we were talking about early..." His gaze shifts to Eden. "...you wanted to ask something."
"Um yeah... I want.. I want to know why."
"Why what?"
"Why you went looking for me even after you found out I'm half squid?" Her voice gets softer as she speaks until her last words are barely a whisper.
"Because it doesn't matter that you and Aden are half squid. You're still the same people I've always known. You're still my cousins. You're my family and you always will be." A smile graces my lips as he said this. In reality I was wondering something similar to Eden. I wanted to know if us being half squid changed our relationship with Adam and I'm happy to know it doesn't.
