A loud noise ascended from downstairs, making me jump out of my skin. I lost my balance and fell to the floor a long with many a book that fell with me. I cried silently as books crippled me from head to toe, feeling bullied by just their lack of emotion alone. I should have picked them up as they lay scattered around me but I had to go check if Mr.Randall was ok, besides if he was injured he would be lucky to have company, it would be miles from the nearest hospital.

I lunged my self onto my now crippled feet and ran to the source of the noise - the hallway. Standing there, everything seemed ok. "Hello?" I cried out, a little shaken. No reply. I began to retrace my steps to see if I had missed anything only to find no changes. Confused I continued to walk backwards, step by step, nothing but silence and the echoes of my footsteps were present. And for some reason I got the distinct feeling I wasn't alone. I paused for a moment to see if I could hear and noises but to no avail did anything reveal itself. Turning around I began to walk forwards again, however I did not look where I was going and tripped over...actually I didn't see what I tripped over as I fell into a cupboard. Ouch. To my surprise I didn't land on the hard wooden floor I had been walking on but a squishy, lumpy surface. I couldn't see what it was as it was dark in that cupboard, I couldn't even see my own hand in front of my face. (the door had closed behind me, making it pitch black. From the other side it probably looked like a vanishing act) I grabbed the door and I opened it a crack, letting some natural light in. I stepped out. Noticing the thing I had tripped over...was Mr.Randall's bucket...? But where did that come from?  There was still no sign of Mr.Randall after he suddenly left, so where could he have gone?

Pausing I looked down to see what I had fallen on. Shocked, disgusted, I opened my mouth to speak but nothing came out . Tears formed at my eyes as I took a deep breath. I had been lying on the dead body of the real Mr.Randall.
