I slowly flutter my eyes open and see Grayson laying beside me. I smile at the sight and decide to wake him up for school. I slept with him last night because it was really cold and I just wanted some company.
I kissed his cheek and waited for his eyes to open. Nothing. I kissed him again. Still nothing. Now I have to take serious measures. I got on top of him and started tickling him and he started laughing hysterically while trying to swat my hands away. I finally gave in and let him wake up. "Come on Grayson wake up!" I said shaking him. "Get off of me and I will" he groaned. I brought my feet to the floor and started getting ready.
I went to the bathroom and actually put in the effort to look nice. I finally have a nice life. I'm doing good in school, have an amazing boyfriend, I don't have to worry about my mom........ there was just one thing missing. A friend. I guess you could count Ethan, but I need a friend that's a female. One I could go shopping with, talk about boys with, and just have fun with.
Guys are good to have as friends, but sometimes I wanna hang out with girls. "Katherine hurry up you're going to make us late" he said knocking on the door. "I'm almost done" I called out, finishing up my hair. I walked out and slipped on my shoes and made my way down the stairs.
When I got to the bottom, I saw Ethan turned around on his phone. "Hey Ethan" I said. He turned to me and look surprised. After his face softened, he stared at me with a smile. "What?" I asked confused. "Nothing.... you're just really pretty" he said turning back to his phone. "Thanks" I said in a low tone. "Okay Katherine are you- woah you look good" Grayson said walking down the stairs. "Thanks" I said smiling at him as he wrapped his arm around me.
"Okay I'll see you guys later" Ethan said, opening the door. "See you later" Grayson said. I just waved as we both exchanged an awkward look. "Hold on let me grab my phone" he said while walking into the kitchen. I nodded and waited on him. I felt my phone vibrate in my pocket and I pulled it out to check it.
New message
Mom: Katherine, I saw you moved out of the apartment to god knows where. This is the last time I do anything for you anymore. Wherever you are, you won't have to worry about me anymore. I'm moving with Jason( her husband), Carter, and Samantha(her kids) to Italy. Far away from you. I hope you have money because you won't be getting it from me. Next time I hope you won't disrespect your mother. Not that you have one, anyway.
As I read the message I could feel myself grow more and more angrier. My jaw clenched as I read the message over and over again.
"Okay you ready?" I heard Grayson say as he walked towards me. "What happened?" He asks while he stares at my angry expression and my clenched fists. "I hate my mom." I said. "What happened?" He asked moving closer to me. I unlocked my phone and handed it to him. He read the message and his facial expression turned from worried to shocked. "I can't believe she did that to you" he said.
"I can." I said crossing my arms. He handed me my phone back but I rejected it. "Delete the message for me. I can't even look at it anymore." I said. He nodded his head and deleted the message, handing my phone back to me. I took it and shoved it in my pocket. "I'm ready"
I grab Grayson's hand tightly as we walked into school. He gave me a sympathetic look because he knows why I'm doing it.
"Hey Kat" I heard behind me. I look behind me and see Blake with a smirk on his face. "Blake leave her alone" Grayson said, stepping in front of me. "Oh I'm not going to hurt her. I just wanted to say hey and I came here for you" he said. "What do you want?" Grayson asked. "Come talk to me behind the school." He said.
"Grayson..." I whispered behind him. "Okay" he said. "Alright. Let's go" Blake said. "Grayson, no" I pleaded as I gripped his arm. "I'll be fine. Just go find Ethan, please." He said. I nodded my head and let go of his arm. He began to walk off before I stopped him. "Grayson wait." I said. He turned to face me and I ran to him and kissed him. "Be safe. Please" I said. He nodded his head and walked off with Blake.
When I saw their bodies disappear into the distance, I ran down the halls searching for Ethan. I found him by his locker. "Ethan!" I screamed as I ran to him. "What's wrong?" He asked. "Grayson went behind the school with Blake." I said, out of breath. "What? When?" He asked. "Just now. Ethan I tried to stop him but I couldn't." I said with tears filling my eyes. "Okay let's go."
Grayson
"What do you want?" I asked him as he leaned on the side of the dirty wall of the school. "Katherine." He said. "What?" I asked. "I love her. And you get to have all the fun." He said.
"So?"
"So, I was thinking we could make a deal"
"What kind of deal?"
"A deal that benefits me and you"
"Okay...."
"How about, I pay you to let me do whatever I want to Katherine"
"No"
"Come on, Gray. When did you ever have a little fun with her."
"Never"
"Poor you. Sad, that you don't know my pain."
"You don't love her. You're using her."
"And what if I was? You would be getting paid for her to be happy, and isn't that what you want?"
"Yes...."
"Good. So do we have a deal?"
