"Katherine how long does it take?" Kaitlyn asked as I looked at the options put on the big display board behind the counter. "As long as it takes me to decide between cotton candy and coconut" I said crossing my arms. She huffed and started talking to the guy at the counter. I was still trying to decide when she came back with 2 ice creams.
I looked at her confused and she rolled her eyes. "I couldn't wait any longer" she said handing me the cup. I shrugged and we both walked over to a table.
We sat and talked and ate for a while and then something caught my eye. I look over and see a tall dude with his back faced to our table ordering. "Oooo Kaitlyn" I said while raising my eyebrows and pointing in his direction. She looked over to him and smirked. "Go talk to him" she said. I shook my head and remembered everything that made me not want to love ever again.
"Come on Katherine. You're over Grayson so go talk to him." She said. I sighed and slowly got out of my seat. I looked back at her nervously and she gestured for me to go. I took a deep breath before tapping him on his shoulder. He turned around and I saw a familiar face. A very familiar face.
"Ethan?"
"Katherine?" He asked. "Oh my god I haven't seen you in so long" he said with his mouth raising to a smile. I nodded and looked at the floor nervously. "Where do you go to school now?" He asked. "Online" I said. I looked down in shame. I hate that I left school because of him, but I really had no other choice.
He saw I was disappointed and he gave me a sympathetic smile. "Do you still have the same number?" He asked pulling out his phone. "No. I got a new number too." I said. "Oh okay, we'll text me sometime" he handed me his phone. I put in my number and handed it back to him. He gave me a smile and put his hands in his pockets. "It was good seeing you again" he said. "You too" I replied.
I sat back down and stared down at the table. "Katherine who was that? Did you get his digits?" She asked excitedly. "Grayson's brother....."

"Ethan I need to leave"
"Why?"
"I can't stay with Grayson for what he did."
"What happened?"
"Everything"

I snapped out of my daydream and looked up at a confused Kaitlyn.
"You okay?" She asked. "Yeah I'm fine. Let's leave"
