Rileys POV
Lucas and I were at Topangas going over wedding plans
"So I say that we make Farkle the best man" said Lucas "Auggie can be the ring barrier"
"I can't believe that Maya's not going to make it to my wedding" I cried "we always wanted to be maids of honor at each other's weddings"
"I miss Maya too" confessed Lucas "but she's dead and we can't do anything about it"
All I could think about the last few days was the fact that Maya wasn't even going to be at my wedding. She couldn't be at graduation or prom and now we will be separated for another big milestone. Everyone thinks Maya's dead and she probably is but I try to stay positive and hope she's alive
"I guess we can make Smakle the maid of honor" I cried
"I am so sorry about Maya" cried Lucas
We were just crying on the couch until Farkle came running into the restraint with a big smile on his face
"GUESS WHAT GUYS!!!" He yelled "I HAVE BEEN NOMINATED FOR THE ABSC!"
"What's the ABSC?" I asked
"It stands for Americas best scientists competition and the 20 best scientists in the country are nominated to compete against other scientists to see who made the biggest scientific discovery. THE WINNER GETS A FREE MANSION IN LOS ANGELUS, A YOT, A BUTLER, AND FIVE MILLION DOLLARS! If I win this contest, I'll be RICH!" Yelled Farkle
"NO WAY?!" Yelled Lucas "YOUR ONE OF THE TOP 20 SCIENTISTS IN THE COUNTRY?!"
"Yep" said Farkle "I'm going to use the cure for cancer I finally finished"
"YOU FINISHED YOUR CURE FOR CANCER?!" I shouted in shock
"Yep!" Said Farkle "it took 2 years but I did it! I put the medicine in my bag and m ready to go to Oklahoma. I need to leave in 1 hour for Oklahoma. Would you guys like to come to see me be rich?"
"Oh corse we would" I told him
Lucas and I hugged Farkle and congratulated him for his big accomplishment and we were both so happy for him
"No matter how much I win, you guys will always mean more" said Farkle
So then, we went to our houses to pack really quickly and we all met at Farkles house. After that, it was night time and we hailed a cab. The cab took us to JFK airport and after we bought our tickets, we were in a big waiting room to wait for our flight
"It's our first vacation together as an engaged couple" said Lucas
"This will be fun" I said
"When I do my acceptance speech, should I wink with the left eye or the right eye?" Asked Farkle
Then, I saw a little girl running around the airport. I couldn't help but stare at her. She reminded me of Maya. She had blonde hair and blue eyes and freckles. Part of her looked broken, as if she had a tuff life. And yet, part of her looks like she has someone to get her through it. She reminded me so much of Maya, it was scary
I decided to go up to the girl. She looked like she was lost. Farkle and Lucas are busy talking about winking anyways
"Hi little girl" I said "I'm Riley"
"I'm Caroline" said the girl "I lost my mommy. One minute, she was putting our suitcases on a machine and the next, she's gone"
"Oh I'm so sorry, would you like me to help you look for her?" I asked
"Yeah" she cried "she looks similar to me but taller"
"Don't worry Caroline, I promise we will find her"
I took her to the section where you pick up your suitcases and she wasn't there. Then, I went into the bathroom and all the stalls were full. But I saw this one woman crying in the mirror. She looked a lot like Maya. A lot. But there's no way it could be Maya. She's dead
"MOMMY!" Shouted Caroline
"CAROLINE!" Shouted the woman "I HAVE WORRIED SICK ABOUT YOU!"
I don't think it's Maya. But I wish it was
Maya's POV
I have been worried sick about Caroline. She just disappeared and I didn't know where she went. I looked in the bathroom and I saw myself in the mirror and just started crying. I couldn't hold it in anymore. The emotion, the sadness, it was all too much for me
After a couple of minutes, I hear Caroline shout "MOMMY!"
"CAROLINE!" I shouted "I HAVE WORRIED SICK ABOUT YOU!"
I hugged her tight and she hugged me back. Then, I noticed a woman who looked my age with long dark wavy hair. It was Riley. I knew it was. I hope she doesn't recognize me. I did grow. My style of fashion is different, I wear different makeup. I didn't want her to recognize me because it would be so awkward. All the pain and sadness I left them. What would she say? How awkward would it be?
"This woman found me!" Shouted Caroline as she held onto Rileys hand. Which I noticed had a diamond ring on it
"Thank you so much" I said
I quickly took Caroline and I was ready to run out of the bathroom until Riley spoke up
"You look like my old friend"
"I have to meet my brother" I lied "but it was nice meeting you!"
"I used to have this best friend named Maya" said Riley "we used to be the best of friends and we did everything together. sleepovers, solve problems, I was thunder and she was lightning. I miss her so much. One day, she ran away and she got kidnapped. I haven't saw her in 6 years and I haven't been the same"
Hearing this speech made me want to cry. I truly loved being Rileys best friend. But what hurt me the most is that she doesn't even recognize me. How does my ex best friend in the whole world not recognize me? Thunder can't sound without its lightning. So I guess, I'll never sound
"That's a sad story" I said
"What's your name?" Asked Riley
"Meghan" I lied
"It's nice to meet you, Meghan" said Riley
Riley turned around and left the bathroom. I looked down and saw the ring on her finger again. Did she get married without me being at her wedding?
I cried even more
"What's wrong mommy?" Asked Caroline
"Mommys sad sweetie"
"Is it because of that girl?" She asked. My daughters so smart. I wish I was
"Yeah, she used to be my best friend" I told her
"Why did you ignore her?"
"You'll understand when your older" I said
I didn't want Caroline to know about me running away and the friends and her grandparents I left behind. I wanted to keep her life as normal as possible. Once we move, everything will be okay. Caroline and I will be safe from Bertram, Riley will never have to know she met me. Everything will be okay
