Its been 20 years since I signed up for this work and it is the same every mission, go to the base eliminate the boss and sneak out unnoticed, I thought "why would this be any different?" but it was.
TWELVEMONTH 2069 0400 HRS SOUTH AMERICANA. AMAZONIC ISLET.
"How much longer chief?" Benny whispers
"10 minutes approx. arrival time" I whisper back,
"Really, Boss?"
"Don't argue with me Benny!"
"Ok Boss."
We moved quietly throughout the jungle heading NE to our destination. When we arrived there was an unexpected guest at the party, one that we couldn't see! Thankfully it didn't see us... or so we thought. I checked my thermal goggles there was only the heat signature of the enemies. We moved silently towards the boss' office when we got there the boss was facing the other door with a knife waiting for us, I snuck up behind him and choked him out, then I gave him to Carl Soap to carry out of the hut. 'Little did they know the 'Thing' was following them'. The next morning Jerry had gone missing, I checked the audiotape that I record every night and heard the weirdest purring noise ever. Next I checked the thermal camera recording, and no sign of any thermal signature on the 'thing' that picked up Jerry and then disappeared. Jerry stabbed the creature before it got away, so I checked outside and where Jerry stabbed the creature there was a weird green glowing substance, so I took a sample of this substance and was going to take it back to the lab on PEIC, Canadiana. Later, that day we went out to our next destination and snuck into the garage and slit all the fuel lines of the jeeps so they can't escape. Afterwards we set up C4 plastic explosives on the jeeps, then rolled them out of the garage. Then the 'thing' did our job for us and blew up the base with the jeeps. Later that night we set off for our campsite. The next morning Benny had disappeared with zero trace, I checked the tapes but something was covering the camera for a minute but then it disappeared and there were no traces except for my sleeping teammates and the captain from the first base, "This beas...creature is learning our tactics, taking us out one by one so he can get us easier, and then helps us in the day. None of this makes any sense at all!!!" I yell and got out of the tent and yelled into the jungle "WHAT ARE YOU AND WHY ARE YOU HERE!!!!". Later on that day we completed our mission with what seemed like an 'angel' looking over us and we completed our mission without delay.
TWELVEMONTH 2070 1500 HRS SOUTH AMERICANA. AMAZONIC ISLET.
"Anybody out there?" said Carl
"Keep it down will you!" I whispered angrily
"Sorry, Chief"
Lex and I moved silently towards our campsite when we heard a scream from one of the tents.
"The General!" yelled Carl
"Let's go!" I yelled...
When we got to the camp site there was two creatures in high tech armour fighting. One of the creatures was protecting the boss from the other beast.
"BERZEARKERA!" yelled the small beast with extremely technologically advanced 'armour'.
"WOROFI!" yelled the small beast with 'Rambo' style bandolier straps.
"STEPEING AVAY FVOM DIS BEINGZ WOROFI!"
"I VILL NOTZ LETZ YOUZA TEKE DIS BEINGZ BERZEARKERA!"
Carl and I could barely understand them but just get a gist of what they were saying.
The beasts fought fiercely for our safety and our demise.
"Carl, I think when we were being hunted the 'Berzerker' beast and the 'Wolf' beast was helping us in the day!" I whispered slowly gaining noise level
"WHAT?" screamed Carl,
Suddenly the 'Berzerker' turned to us and charged at us with immense speed so Carl and I activated our cybernetic leg upgrades and bolted away from him. He caught up with a jetpack.
Then we battled the 'Berzerker', Me with my Sparrow (Compound Bow) and Carl with his Purifier (Flamethrower) but neither of them worked, the 'Berzerker' was immune to fire AND explosions!
"This thing is almost unkillable!" yelled Carl
"Wait, look its weakening!" I yelled
Carl stared at its movements carefully. It WAS weakening its movements were becoming sluggish and slow and even slower reaction times. We created a game plan:
When I shoot my explosive arrows, Carl will light them up with the Purifier so that they create a fire explosion. We continually used this strategy to take out the 'Berzerker' when we were about to kill it it pressed a series of buttons on its wrist gauntlet which then started to glow red and beeped like a bomb! Carl and I sped out of there on our bikes just in time to see the nuke go off in the distance.
Later, a spacecraft landed at our camp. The 'Wolf' stepped out of the vehicle.
He greeted us and thanked us for helping him.
"No problem!" I said
"Yea no worries" said Carl.
The creature explained what happened and why it happened, then he gave us a lift to PEIC, Canadiana and went on his merry way.
