"I'm going to go check the mail, darling." You called out to Damian as you stepped out the front to saunter up to the mailbox. It was mostly bills and advertisements but a blood red envelope with no return address caught your attention. You opened the envelope and pulled out a small sliver of paper that had one thing written on it. A name.

'Red Hood'

"Anything important?" Damian asked only looking up briefly from his book as you came back in with the mail.

"Just the usual." You shrugged. You strode over the the fireplace and subtly threw the hit order into the flames. You knew what you had to do now, it was only a matter of making it happen. You pulled your special purse out of the coat closet and slipped on a heavy coat.

"I need to go run some errands, darling. I'll be back in a few hours." You said leaned down to press a kiss on Damian's cheek. He hummed in acknowledgment and nodded his head.

"Can you pick up some eggs on your way home?" Damian asked.

"Of course." You agreed making your way to the door.

"Don't kill anyone, beloved." Damian called jokingly.

"No promises." You laughed, closing the door behind you. As soon as you were gone Damian's eyes flashed to the fireplace where the deep red envelope burned. It wasn't the first time that you had thrown similar envelopes into the fire. Damian knew the signs but he just couldn't believe that his sweet quiet girlfriend could possibly be ... no he wouldn't believe it. Not until he saw it for himself.

Damian took the poker for the fire and pulled out the envelope before it could be completely engulfed in flames. The paper was already pretty badly burned but he could still make out the name on the papers.

"Oh no." He breathed before sprinting out the door and running out the door in the direction that he saw you turn. Damian used his detective skills to track you down, eventually coming to a dingy dive bar. Damian couldn't imagine you being here in a million years but he had to get to the bottom of this.

He pushed the door to the bar open and scanned the bar for you. Patrons of the bar turned around and glared at Damian critically. He may not have been able to see you but he did see Jason sitting next to a woman clad in tight fitting black clothes and tattoos. Damian strode over to Jason and put his hand on his shoulder.

"We need to talk." Damian whispered in Jason's ear. Jason raised his eyebrow and casually sipped his drink.

"Yeah your girlfriend's coming to kill me. I know. Tell me something I don't know." He grumbled.

"You knew?" Damian asked.

"Yeah I figured it out when she walked in a couple of weeks ago and put a bullet in the back of a dude's skull. Poor bastard didn't even see it coming." Jason said calmly. He didn't even appear worried that you were going to try and kill him.

"Well have you seen her?" Damian asked.

"If I did, she's a really shitty assassin." He joked.

"He's right, you know." The mysterious woman sitting beside Jason spoke up. "The best assassin's hide in plain sight." She said and faster than anyone could react she pulled her gun out of her jacket and poising it against Jason head while dragging him out of the bar. Jason struggled against your hold but you had the advantage.

"Sal asked that I take business outside. He wasn't too happy with the mess I made the last time." She purred in Jason's ear.

"[Y/N] don't do this." Damian pleaded.

"I'm sorry darling, business is business. Some rich fuck wants this trash dead and I'm just the messenger. Don't get in my way or I'll be forced to kill you too." You warned as you pulled Jason into a dark alley.

"[Y/N] please don't go through with this. He may be an asshole but he's my brother. Look I'll pay whatever bounty you were contracted for, just let him go."

"It's not about the money, darling. People in high places want him dead and if he doesn't die, I do. It's just a matter of survival." You say cocking your gun and pressing it against his temple.

"Just out of curiosity how much is the hit worth?" Jason asked, cool as a cucumber.

"More than you can afford." You shot back.

"[Y/N] if you don't stand down, I'll be forced to make you." Damian warned, his hand reaching into his pocket to pull out a batarang. Your eyes narrowed at the weapon and you sneered.

"I'm sorry, my love." You apologized your finger moving to pull the trigger. In one swift movement Damian skillfully launched a batarang at the hand gripping your gun. When it embedded itself in your hand you hissed and reflexively dropped you gun. Jason took the opportunity to free himself from your hold and pull pull his guns out to aim at you.

Seeing you were outnumbered, you cradled your injured hand and retreated back out of the alley. When had disappeared into the shadows Jason visibly relaxed and holstered his guns.

"I'm sorry about your girlfriend." Jason apologized, putting a comforting hand on his brother's shoulder. Somehow he didn't think there was any getting past an assassin girlfriend almost killing your brother.

"Me too."
