Core poked him. "Yep, he's still alive." I sighed. "Good, now I can live for another day." We gathered all the money and gold we can carry and walked out the joint. The skies were still dark gray with tempest and critical weather forecast. The entire building was on top of a cylinder cliff, with spotlights beaming in the sky. Below the cliffs was a cavern with roaring waves, crashing into the cliffs. The waves were mostly caused by the magical atmosphere but there is also something called a "Current Regulator". All it really does is to keep track of the ever rising tides. The canyon surrounding the building was riven in a vast monster we called "Flooding Kansas", since well, it's know submerged under a infinte abyss. (Seriously it is) The radius of the canyon is approximately 100 kilometers across. Honestly, who ever made the base obviously went overboard on making it and said, "You know what? Why not we make this place in one of the most dangerous places in the world and make it 200 kilometers in diameter, surrounded by a vast ocean and send nearly, 0 security to stay there for a good percentage of their lives with no or little chance of ever leaving!" (sympathy, for them, I have.) The sound of thunder cracked in the distance and struck the ocean, blasting a soundwave and creating a tsunami. The wave rushed toward us. I almost shrieked and took the skies. The wave came toward over us menacingly and it actually made an evil grin. (I swear this magic stuff is lit) I jerked but Core kept me down. The wave came to us and hiccuped, whooshing into an invisible barrier. The water melted and slid away back into the water. (I swear I just now saw the wave weeping) I sighed in relief. "Phew, for a minute I thought we were dead fish." Core cringed. "Ok- ok I'm done. I'm done." He stabbed his sword into the ground and called into HQ. A portal ripped right in front of us and we walked through.
I stepped on rough cold pavement. Enigma and I were the last ones out of the swirling vortex. When it closed my eyes blurred and freaked out as my eyes adjusted from the loud light. The place was cold but, it was more than just cold, it was frozen. Blanketed with a thick layer of ice and snow. We weren't in Kansas any more. Know. We're in a place we now call "Frost." Before we renamed it you may know it once as Colorado and our base was well hidden in Winter Park. Like I said the world has changed drastically compared to the 2020's. Here, the monster and frost demon levels are higher than any place on earth. Or what's left of it. We were in a storm. The only way we were able to make out each other and communicate was with the coms. The coms buzzed with a little of interference. "We're not far from base- zttzzt- we-zzztztzt- just need to stay toge-zzffttt- ther as well as we can." Said Core. Do you have any idea why we chose this place? It's because it's everyone's right mind to avoid the place. It's to dangerous to house a city here so they just abandoned it. (Which was why we named is "Frost" because no one claims it anymore. Besides, we're the only ones living here anyways.) We all trudged through thick snow and fought the wind. Core used his huge sword as a shield to prevent wind burn. As for me I didn't really needed to. I had the suit. And Blackmail, oh boy, he was trying his best to gain as much cover behind Core as well as he can. We walked through an old town, or at least, what we can see of it. Because it was mostly buried. There was many, many trees and slopes left and right The only light we saw from the night sky was the reflection of the lights of my suit bouncing off the blizzard. The coms came on. "HOW much- Further?!" shivered Blackmail. Bobby got on. "Ah you know, just a little cave at the top of the slopes." Blackmail huffed. "Couldn't you just dropped us off at the entrance?!!" Bobby sighed. "Come on Mail, you know this. One) the blizzard prevents us and Two) if the popo were track us it's best if we have the dropping course off a little bit." We passed the town and got to the end of a cliff, leading up to the entrance of our base. "But at least we got the snow-mobiles for ya to get up here quicker." And as if in command three snowmobiles came out of a garage me and Enigma installed last week. We each got on a bike and rode up the slopes.
------
"Ah God yes. INDOORS!" squealed Blackmail. We got to the top of the cliff. The storm whistled behind us. The groaning of machinery raced as we got to the mouth of the cave. The cave was big enough for all three vehicles to get inside and I'll say, I was sure glad to gain cover from the storm. We parked the bikes deep enough in the cave for "eyeshot." We jumped of the bikes and marched to the end of the cave. The suit around me clicked and whizzed and transformed back to it's little capsule. Enigma bobbed up and down on the ground. At the back of the cave there was an engraving on the wall. It was like triangular star. Enigma configured into the shape and filled in the shape and spun the dial counter-clockwise. The dust and fragments of rock fell off the ceiling. The wall there glew with smaller engravings and it pushed itself back a few inches, revealing cement and metal gear and pistons circling the rim of the opening. The dial then spun and adjusted like a dial to a safe. The dial spun to the right one full circle and the base of the dial separated as the dial closed in. The sound of a little bell went off making a little ting! Enigma detached, changing back to his normal self. He and the dial steamed red hot. "Phew! That always tires me out!" heaved Enigma. The door broke into two, while the dial stuck to the right of the brake. They slid to the sides like the doors of a closet. The two doors were on a track separating each other. We walked through and entered a grand room with at least 3 levels. All was made from rock, cement, wood or just any other natural phenomena not of this Earth. As you go in there a big "bowl" you could say, that we consider the "living room", had couches, chairs, a big TV with all kinds of movies and video games. There was also a bookshelf too. Other than that we have all the kinds of space we need here. (well I mean, we are in a freaking mountain so.) Heck we also have a basement.(yeah, like we needed one. We even have a basement basement.) We also have, drum roll please, an Attic! The gate behind us cracked and whined as it rolled and puzzled itself back together again. We dropped all the bags on the ground. Blackmail dropped down and winced. "Uhhh." (That's all he could say) "Yeah I'm not so far off that either." said Core.
