I try to remind myself to breathe, but it's no use because in this moment I've lost myself. I burst through the bathroom door and shut it quickly behind me. I feel like screaming but nothing comes out. I stare at myself in the mirror.

It's hard to imagine how only a few hours ago I was laughing and had no care in the world. Now I barely recognize the reflection. My make up is smeared, my hair dischealved, cuts, bruises and blood under my fingernails. I turn the tap on and pump soap into my hands.

Just breathe.

Just breathe.

Just breathe. I can't.

As I look down I see the blood on my hands and the same sentence keeps repeating itself in my head; what did we do?

"Miss" I suddenly jolt awake when I feel someone nudging me.

I stare at the flight attendant in front of me. She looks slightly concerned and bit annoyed. "We've landed, I've been trying to wake you up for the last few minutes."

I look around and see that all the passengers have left. I close my eye and take a deep breathe. It was just a dream. It wasn't though.

"S-sorry" I murmur still trying to get my heart rate normal. She smiles at me sympathetically and guides me towards the exit. I grab my bag and walk behind her.

I thank her before walking out the terminal. I just want to get out of here. I collect my bag and turn my phone on.

When I look up my eyes meet a familiar face. "Alana" I say shocked, she squeals before wrapping her arms around me. "God it's so good to see you" she says while letting me go. Alana was my best friend whenever I came to visit, only I haven't been back in six years. She has the same gorgeous blue eyes and blonde hair. Always a smile on her face.

"Good to see you too Lana" she helps me with my bags "I told your dad I'd pick you up because I wanted to surprise you" she says gleefully. I've missed her.

The cold wind hits my face as we step outside. "Welcome to Bradford."

During the car ride she fills me in on everything and promises me that the weather will get better and we'll get to do fun things. I fill her in on my life back home, leaving a few things out.

When we finally arrive I realize how much the building has changed. My dad lives in an apartment just outside the city. The building itself though looks more modern.

"Ready" she says while grabbing my bags. Distracted and nervous I fall on my way up the stairs. Alana bursts into laughter "Six years and still clumsy."

"Give the uncoordinated a hand" she offers her hand and helps me up. We finally make it to the door and inside. The apartment is large and modern, mostly decorated with black and white.

I'm surrounded by so many people. "Welcome home" they all shout. A smile falls on my lips "There's my girl" I turn to the side and see my dad. He brings me into an embrace. He hasn't changed much, apart from the fact that he's older.

I make my way around the room to greet everyone while being bombarded with hugs and welcome homes. Home, how could home feel so foreign? I haven't been here in six years, but everyone around me keeps telling me 'how happy they are', or 'how much I've grown up'. Honestly some of them I don't even remember.

But after the basics, I start getting questions.

'Why haven't you come to visit sooner?'

'How's life in America?'

'How's your mother?'

I decided I need a break and a drink. I walk over to the kitchen and pour myself a glass of water. Not exactly what I had in mind, but it will do for now.

"Bit overwhelming" my eyes fall on a guy that stands beside me. "You could say that." I stare deep into his brown eyes, something about him looks familiar.

"You don't remember me do you? That hurts me Haven, I taught you how to ride a bike."

My eyes grow wide in shock, "Holy shit Ty!" I wrap my arms around him.

He chuckles, guilt fills me for not remembering him. Tyler was like my brother. Taught me everything about sports and video games. We used to run a muck when we were younger and always got into trouble. Especially at school.

"I've missed you, life's been boring without you" he says while smiling.

"Hey" Alana walks over and nudges him "Life's never boring as long as I'm in it" she says proudly.

"But we've definately missed your crazy ass" she adds.

I smile "Well you have me for the summer."

"It's going to be the best summer of your life" I'm counting on it.

I sat down with Tyler and Lana reminiscing about our time as kids until it was time for everyone to start going home. After saying my goodbyes and cleaning up a bit I could feel my body shutting down.

My dad hugs me once last time before going to bed, "Goodnight kid, I'm really happy your here" I smile before saying goodnight. He goes to bed and I'm finally left alone.

This house hasn't changed, maybe it's a bit more modern but it's still the same. I smile to myself and grab the keys before walking outside. A start walking up flights of stairs until I reach the door. Rooftop.

I open the door and as soon as I walk outside the cold breeze chills my skin. I zip my jacket up before walking over towards the edge and sitting down.

I stare down at the city before me. A new start I thought, but knowing all too well, you can't run away from your problems. Maybe you can buy yourself some time, but that's all it is, time. Like an hour glass, the sand will eventually stop falling. I close my eyes and let the wind blow against me trying to forget. It'll catch up to me, it always does; some secrets will haunt you forever.
