[Future]

I sat on a tree, watching the person that was on my hit list for this month. Sadly it was only five people, but it could be worse. For about a year, I have been the only that people they have been asking to go and assassinate. The person sat down on the rocks near the river whipping the blood off his hands, I just watched him as he killed a little girl who was in the woods. Why did I do anything? Well because that girl would have to die seeing me anyways. I watched as tears flooded down his face as he cleaned his hands and clothes, but it was too late, the girls blood already stained his shirt and pants. I softly jumped down from where I was hiding and creeped up to the guy. Before I could attack him, someone screamed behind me. The guy turned around, looking right at me, and he screamed himself. I covered his mouth and went behind him. This all took me mere seconds when I watched the guy fall to the ground. Dead. I grabbed one thing from the guy and left the area. In these time of days, I don’t have to worry about my fingerprints, only being seen. I got back up into the tree and left the area. I slowly walked back to the ‘Shack’ and walked in. A guy stood there waiting and I sighed handing him the amulet from my kill.

“I guess the rumors are true, you can really track down someone fast.” the guy spoke. I simply nodded sitting down at a really dirty desk. A bag of money was set in from of me and the guy left. “I best be off.” I whispered and left without another word. I made sure I wasn’t being followed before I spotted another house in the deep woods. I opened the door and someone pointed a bow at me. “Oh hey dude.” the guy smiled putting it down. “Hey Sky.” I said back sitting down on the couch, looking out the window. “How was your, ‘day.’” I nodded for my answer, never really wanting to be talking about my life much. I have known Sky for many years, but has changed in both of us.

[Year and a half earlier]

“Hurry up Mitch!” Sky yelled running around his castile. Sky was the prince of the SkyKingdom and was soon to be king. I, on the other hand, was going to be his bodyguard. I was already part of the army train, and getting really good almost everything. When Sky and I were younger he found me begging for food on the streets and took me in. He taught me how to fight and use a bow, and after a long time training with it. I was the best in the Kingdom.

“Mitch!” I heard someone knocking on my door. “Mitch wake up today is the day!” he called again. I groaned then sat up. Today I would be taking a test to see if I was worthy of even being a guard. I was top in the class with many things, but fighting with a sword, I was at the bottom. I hope they still choose me, even though I can’t fight with a sword. I got fully dressed and walked out of my room getting a hug from my best friend. “You ready buddy?” he asked me. I smiled and nodded, “You get to choose your bodyguard right?” I asked him, making sure it was true. “Yes, my father and Great Grandfather did, so I don’t see why not.” he smiled at me more. We walked to the fields and I was left alone with the group. A guy, or Head Guard, walked on the field and stood on top of a stand, “Greeting trannies of SkyKingdom. Today you will be going through many test to see if you are tough enough to be guard, and then today the Prince is picking his personal bodyguard.” I heard of the guys whisper behind me, “We all know who he is going to be picking.” the whole group started to around the group. I knew they were talking about me, but I have beaten them multiple times, they knew I was good at what I did. “Gentlemen, and lady, we have a lot of things to do, in a short time. Gear up, and get ready for battle.” We walked into our changing rooms, and get ready. The lady, or Alison, walked to a personal one for, so she didn’t have to get dressed in front of us.

“Yo Mitch, good luck man.” I heard my friend, Jake, call over to me. “You too man.” I called back getting fully ready. I grabbed my bow when I heard a bunch of whispers going through the whole room. I turn around to see Sky standing in the doorway. He has never been back here before, but I smiled and walked over. “Hello Sir.” I smirked at Sky. “A gift.” he winked and left. “Good luck to you all.” and Sky left. I looked at the others and they were all laughing their heads off. I took my gift to my spot and opened it. Inside there was a beautiful silver bow inside. I pulled it out and held it in my hand. I notice this was the bow that I first shot. “Wow that is a beauty.” Jake sat down next to me. “Your boyfriend give that to you?” I give him a look, then looked back at the bow. I heard the Head Guard yelling for us to hurry up and get out there. I put my bow over my shoulder and grabbed a lot of arrows. Today is the day, today is the day that I show off. Jake and I were the last one’s out of the room and onto a new field. “Ladies and Gentlemen, today these men and women will be showing off their best skills, to prove if they are worthy to be in the Kingdom. Each name will be called one, by one and they will have a task to prove themselves, they cannot pick what they do. So pray it is what they are good at.” everyone in the seating area starting to clap. “First up, Alison Chase. The first women to ever be placed in guard training.” she walked forward with confidence, but I watched as one of her arms shook with fear. She walked up in front of the person, we are suppose to fight, and then nodded. The Head Guard grabbed a piece of paper out of a bowl and read it outloud. “Hand to hand combat.” I smirked knowing she was the top for that section, I just beat her just once on it. Alison put down her sword and got her hands up and ready. The guard that we were using for this was a really big guy towards her. “Three, Two, One, fight.” She was up there for a good minute before the guy being pinned to the ground and hitting his hand against the ground signaling her to let go. Everyone clapped again while Alison walked off the stage. A few names went by, and it felt like forever when I heard my name being called. “Mitch Hughes.” I took a deep breath in and walked to the stage. I looked at my friend who nodded and smiled at me. I nodded also and waiting for what I had to do. “Mitch has to do,” he sticks his hand in the bowl. “Sword fighting.” fear shot through my whole body, that is the one thing I absolutely suck at. I took another deep breath in and lifted my bow off my shoulder and onto the ground, I picked up a iron sword and got into my fighting stance.
