school ready!

"Well... that totally wasn't weird" I say.

"They're just trying to be friendly carol, be nice" dad responds

I shrug my shoulders, grab my backpack and head to the car " i guess" I shoot off before exiting the door

My dad gets in the car. "Mom is touching up the kitchen" he said.

Just then max opens the door... "Aaaaahhhhh!" max screams and scurries into the car slamming the door.

"Why'd you scream max?" i ask

"There's a bee on the window! It tried to sting me!!" max exclaimed

I squint to get a closer look. "Max that's a wasp" i tell him

"That's even worse"

"Well... You should know the difference; you're in 6th grade now max. You can't keep being a baby; you need to grow up a little." I state

"school is going to be a lot harder now, you're going to have to put your head in the game, pun intended"

"I know, I know. I'm a little excited and scared. No, it's more like... nervous but I'm confident at whatever it throws my way." Max subtly says.

I can kind of tell he's really freaking out inside. If I know one thing I know when he's scared or nervous. He talks lighter and doesn't have that same brave tone it usually does, and he always looks down.

Mom finally gets in the car and we can head off to school. Most of the car ride was silent, and I liked it like that. It gave me time to mentally prepare myself, go over what I'm going to say, how I'm going to act, what I'm going to do. It's like you have to put a sort of mask on while at school these days.

We arrive to school and it's beautiful, and huge! There's big buildings about 7 of them all lettered "A, B, C, D, E, F, G".

"I wonder why there's so many buildings' i blurt out

"In the school rules it says 6th 7th and 8th grade are split up. They all have their own buildings of classrooms" mom answers

"That only makes up for 3 of the buildings" I respond casually

Mom reaches into the compartment of the car and unfolds a map like paper

"Says here one is gym, the other one is a cafeteria and,the other one is an auditorium. There's a library in the way back which is also a computer lab"

The buildings are aligned in a "V" like shape

With "A" being in front which is the front office, its also the smallest of the buildings but nevertheless still pretty big.

Buildings "B" and "C" are evenly aligned right behind "A" with buildings "D' "E" "F" and "G" evenly aligned  behind "B" and "C"

"AWESOME" max energetically inputs

"Yea this is kind of cool" I say with a smirk on my face

"You better not embarrass me! Stay with your own friends and I'll stay with mine" I randomly state

"Whatever" max says sarcastically

My mom pulls up to the front of building "A" while me and max hop out the car with our backpacks ready to go.

"Have a good day" mom shouts out

"Love you, be cool and make friends" dad yells out after.
