Thank you for continuing to read this story. Apologies for the slow start to Sam and Tom's story but my problem is I go off on tangents, in my writing and in general, then that's all I can think of. So this is another small tangent with some Sam/Tom interaction. The wedding is coming up soon so that should be interesting J

So Christmas 2014 was spent by doing back to back shows. They'd even put shows on a Sunday over the holiday period so I'd not even been able to go see Ben and Sophie. I know they'd had a big Christmas party at theirs for friends and family on the Saturday before Christmas and I was all set to go, however, after a double show day, by the time I'd come off stage all I'd wanted was my bed. Ben had been really understanding and told me that I needed to get some rest but that they'd miss me. Although I got Christmas day off I was back in on Boxing Day so it was hardly worth heading home for twenty four hours. I had said I would do the Christmas run to the producers because, other than my family, it was just me, whilst my understudy had a young family. I only thought it fair that I do Christmas and let her spend time with her two kids at the most magical time of the year, then I would get these three days off over New Year with her stepping into my role. At the beginning of December I had had some surprising news that I had been nominate for a Whatsonstage award for 'Best takeover in a role' and I was thrilled. The only problem was that the awards evening was the day after Ben and Sophie's wedding. This posed two problems, one the day before I would be on the Isle of White and two I was supposed to be on my holiday. I'd talked to Ben about it and he had convinced me to say that I was going to the organisers and that if on the morning I wasn't going to make it I could call and cancel. In his words "it's easier to not turn up when expected than to turn up when not expected". Tom's show Coriolanus has got five nominations, including Tom for 'Best Actor in a Play' and I would congratulate him but I only seem to communicate with him through Ben.

So it is now New Year's Eve and I am on an East Coast train heading back up north to the wonderful land of Yorkshire; I might be a little biased. I've splurged for First Class as I cannot be doing with irritating people in the other carriages; all I really want to do was sleep. So here I am snuggled up on a seat in first class, a nice hot cup of tea in my hand and my iPad in the other as the country passes by my window. I am just getting into my story on my iPad when a FaceTime call from Sophie pops up on my screen. I click the accept button and take a quick look around the carriage while I wait for it to connect. I don't think there is anyone close that will be annoyed at me whispering into my iPad for a while. Luckily I had my earphones in so at least only I would be able to hear her.

"Hello Sam" Sophie's face says as it appears on my screen, her voice emitting straight into my ears.

"Hello Sophie, how are you?" I whisper in greeting.

"I'm good thank you. How are you?" She replies

"Tired, but I'm ok. Mind you I bet you are more tired. How's the you-know-what going?" I sort of stage whisper this time and I look up to check that no one is listening.

"It's going really well thanks. Where are you and why are you whispering?" she laughs.

"I'm on a train back to Leeds" I chuckle. "Whispering because there's public around"

"Ahh, right. So Ben and I just wanted to wish you a Happy New Year before it all goes crazy around midnight. We both hope that 2015 is a great year for you" she smiles.

"Thank you. And the same to you both. So much going on and I'm so grateful you are allowing me to be a small part of it. Speaking of Ben, where is he?" I ask.
