I loved it. The cool breeze of the A/C as I walked into the gym. The powerful smell of chalk and sweat. All of the beams and bars put perfectly into place. The trampolines and spring floors, it was all here!

Finally, I was back to the place that put me where I am today. A gold medal winning Olympic gymnast. The first African American to win that medal. I couldn't have felt more happier.

'Now, where is coach?' I wondered. I slowly walked around the gym until I heard a familiar voice calling my name. Coach chow!

I ran over to the man I hadn't seen in over a month, and came in for a hug.

"It's so good to see you again!" I exclaimed, my face lit up with excitement.

"I know, I know," he agreed, with his thick accent. He led me to his office, then suddenly stopped. "Have you gotten taller?" He questioned.

"Maybe a little," I laughed. He chuckled and we carried on to his office.

I sat down in the chair behind his desk, ready for whatever I was about to hear.

"I'm really glad you have decided to come back, Gabby," He explained. "I can't wait to get back into training with you. Before we start the workout, I thought we should catch up a little bit. What's been going on lately?" He questioned.

We hadn't really talked in a while. I would occasionally send him messages on Facebook that were more gymnastics related, but nothing personal ever came up in those conversations. So I told him about my books, everywhere I've been on vacation, and how it's been with my family.

Determination filled my head as I jogged around the bouncy blue floor in my blue leotard and Nike pros. Three warm up laps and on to the regular stretching routine.

As I say on the ground to do my stretching series, that familiar feeling came back to me. It was as if my life was put back into place. And everything went back to normal.
