"Toby..." The voice whispered.
The realm of nightmares that he was trapped in was slowly fading away. He felt numb and cold, and was relieved for a moment before the real world started to sink in. He felt the hard ground up against his back, and once his vision stopped swimming, the orange-blue sky nearly blinded him.
He stood up and looked around. He felt something wet on his hands and lifted them up, seeing that there was frost collecting on his finger tips. How long was he asleep?
The air was frigid, and the grass was covered in the same light dusting of frost.
Almost like a magnet, he was pulled in a single direction. He followed the urge to move with no resistance. His mind was blank as he continued to look around and trudge along.
There wasn't a sign of life, even the other proxies were missing. He didn't even recognize the area he was in. He had been in this same forest for nearly eight years and he had almost memorized every tree, so where was he now?
Eventually, he came across a road, it stretched right and left as far as he could see. The pull had forced him to go left, even though the hiker to the right had intrigued him.
Where was he going this time? He'd never been here before...
After a good twenty minutes of walking and wondering, civilization was starting to come into view, though, they were just some houses at the edge of the town.
He continued to silently walk, looking at each of the houses until he suddenly stopped. The pull was gone.
His eyes locked on the house before him. It was light blue and looked a little run down. The white paint on the shutters were flaking and there was a bit of ivy just starting to climb the side of the house.
He approached it, walking up the driveway and stepping around the car, moving towards the front window to try and see the occupants inside.
He stayed low, making sure not to be seen. The early morning frost had fogged the window, so it was hard to see anything inside, only blurred shapes. He saw movement coming from the stairs. It was a figure of a woman, though, he couldn't make out her appearance. She slowly walked down the steps and towards the kitchen. She must've just woken up.
