You gathered your things and tossed them in your duffel bag. You swiped your fingers across your cheeks leaving 2 black lines and pulled your hood over your face. You gazed into the mirror. You looked sleek, skinny, and fast.
You left your house and headed two streets down.
You caught a bus and got off at the nicer part of town. You searched around until you found a house that was seemingly empty.
You unzipped the duffel bag and pulled out a crowbar. It was lightweight and easily fit under the edge of the window. The lock clicked and you slid the curtains out of the way as you climbed in.
The house was huge. Whoever lived there had to have been rich. There was a 75 inch smart T.V. against one wall and a fireplace against the other. There where several large squishy looking chairs surrounding a heavy coffee table, and 3 paintings were hung around the fireplace.
You looked around and smiled. You had your work cut out for you. You started looking around the house and soon discovered a stair case. You headed to the second floor and entered the first room. The first thing you saw was a pair of diamond studded glasses and 5 gold rings. Next to them was a smart phone, Rolex, and a large computer.
Your heart skipped a beat. This is what you had needed for the past 3 weeks. You quickly unzipped the duffel bag and slid the items into the front pocket.
You left the room and were about to enter the next room when you noticed a light shining from underneath the door.
You started to panic as footsteps quickly crossed the room, and the door handle started to turn. You froze.
"What the hell?" A persons voice said.
You made a small squeak as you turned around to face him.
He was gorgeous. He had soft brown eyes and sandy blonde hair. His tie was slightly undone and his collar was turned up. He had on fuzzy gray slippers.
"What are you doing here?"
"Um" you couldn't form a complete thought, and your heart was racing.
"What's in your bag?" He reached for and you instinctively turned away from him.
"Let me see" he said while glaring at you. He grabbed your arm and pulled you closer so he could reach the zipper. Slowly he pulled out his glasses, rings, smartphone, Rolex, and computer.
"Come with me." He grabbed your arm and yanked you down the stairs, sitting you at the dinning room table. He ripped the bag away from your shoulder and slammed it down on the table.
"Please" you managed to whisper.
"What?" He said whipping around and staring at you menacingly.
"Please don't turn me in" you said again starting to cry.
"Your unbelievable. I catch you stealing from my house and you ask me not to turn you in? Give me one good reason not to." He crossed his arms.
"Please. I don't want to. Me and my sister have to. We don't eat otherwise. Please. I'll never come back. Never. We'll leave you alone."
"What do you mean you won't eat?" His face softened slightly.
"My mom died of cancer 3 years ago. Me and my sister had to drop out of school and work multiple jobs. We steal things to keep up with our rent." You burst into tears and covered your face wanting to disappear.
You heard him cross the room and an arm circled your shoulders. He held you until you stopped crying.
"I won't turn you in" he said. "In fact, I'm willing to help you and your sister."
You looked at him greatfully. "Thank you so much. Thank you thank you thank you"
"Just promise me you'll never steal again"
"I swear."
"Good." He said and placed a bowl of cereal in front of you. "You must be hungry. Eat."
You scarfed the corn flakes. "What about my sister?"
"You and her can stay here as long as you like. Maybe even longer."
