Chase's P.O.V.
When I saw Elli Miller come in the front door, I couldn't help but stare. Her silky blonde hair had fallen perfectly in place, her bright blue dress down to her knees. Then her beautiful sky blue eyes looked right at me. I tried to play it cool, but it was so hard to take my eyes off of her.
The first time I saw her in fourth grade, I instantly fell for her. I doubt she'd ever have feelings for me. Yeah, I'm on the football team, but what does that accomplish? She's one of the smartest girls in the school.
We used to be friends in elementary, but we went to different middle schools and kind of went our separate ways. I wish we would start talking again, but I don't know how to start. Hey, remember me? I'm that loser you were somehow friends with in fourth grade. I guess I'll do my best..
"Hey," I managed to start. "you like football?" Really? That's the best I could come up with?
"Yeah, it's pretty cool." She says, obviously uninterested.
"I can change the channel if you want," I offer.
"No, it's okay! I'm fine with football." She replies with a smile. Something about her smile is so cute. Maybe it's her dimples, or her perfectly straight teeth.
"My dad taught me how to play. We used to always throw the ball around outside." I instantly feel stupid for trying to keep the conversation going, but I continue anyway. "Does your dad ever do anything with you?"
"Oh, um, no." She answers. "..my dad died on my eleventh birthday."
God I'm an idiot.
"Oh my god, I'm so sorry. I didn't-"
"It's fine, you didn't know. I don't tell many people." She assures me.
