The train slowed to a stop. Hermione, Ron, and Harry got out of the train, then met up with Percy, who was already off the train. They walked towards the carriages (Percy was going with his year but would meet up with the first years to get sorted). The Golden Trio glanced at the Thestrals (spelling?) that almost everyone in the school could see now.
"Those are thestrals, right?" Percy asked Hermione. Hermione nodded to him.
"You can see them too?" Harry asked. Hermione glared at him. "I mean, well, I only mean that since Americans weren't in the battles or anything, and thestrals can only be seen by. . ." he trailed off as Hermione's glare only intensified.
Surprisingly, Percy only let out a light laugh. "People who have seen death," he finished for Harry. "I know. I watched a friend die once. They were blown up. I don't remember it very well—something about how the brain can make you forget things."
This, of course, was a lie. But Harry and Ron didn't know that.
"Oh, I'm sorry," Harry said. "I shouldn't have mentioned that. But I've never heard of that brain thing. . ."
Percy shook his head. "You wizards. They don't even teach you science?"
"'You wizards'?" Harry quoted. "What do you mean by that?"
Percy didn't even bat an eye. "Sorry, wizards here are different from wizards in America. We learn about human minds and all that, along with other science and math and language arts and stuff. It's useful to know more about Muggle subjects."
Ron blinked. "My dad would like a school like that."
Percy laughed. "I can tell him pretty much everything he wants to know about Muggles. You can tell him that I'll answer pretty much any question that he may have."
"I'm sure he'll accept that offer," Ron replied, "but you might not want to. . .He will not stop asking questions."
Percy shrugged. "I get confused by a lot of stuff, so I'm usually the one asking questions. It'll be a nice change."
Ron shrugged. "Okay then. Don't say I didn't warn you."
"I won't."
They climbed into a carriage, and a moment later, two girls came onto the carriage too.
"Hi, Ginny," Harry said to the red haired girl (obviously Ron's younger sister), smiling.
"Hello, Luna," Hermione greeted. Percy looked at the other girl, who's name was apparently Luna. Ginny sat next to Harry, and since there was no more space on that side, Luna sat next to Percy.
She looked at him curiously. "Hi. Are you new here? I've never seen you before." She asked.
"Yeah," Percy replied. "I'm a transfer student from America."
She nodded. "I'm Luna. What's your name?"
"I'm Percy," Percy replied.
"Why'd you come to Hogwarts from America?"
"Multiple reasons, actually. One, my mom got a job here. Two, I wanted to meet Hermione's new boyfriend."
Hermione rolled her eyes. "I can take care of myself."
Percy smiled. "I know you can. Though there were those times when I saved your life...."
Hermione huffed. "I would've been fine."
Percy raised an eyebrow. "You sure?"
Hermione rolled her eyes and looked away.
Percy looked at Luna. "You're in Ravenclaw, right?"
