Chapter 5
It seemed that thinking back on my time with Andy had triggered something in my subconscious. My dreams were plagued with the scenes of our summer, but I couldn't help loving it. That summer had been one of the best summers of my life. It was the first summer that I was able to get away from my parents, I was in a relationship that they supported, and everything was going so wonderfully. I had great friends and I couldn't see that ever coming to an end. The dream I had most recently made me remember one of the many great times we had wasting time...

"So, are y'all ready?" Andy asked raising an eyebrow.
Emily laughed, "Sorry it's taking so long Andy. I know you don't understand, but girls like to look their best."
Andy scoffed, "We're going to cruise on Main Street. Why do you need to look your best?!"
"You never know what could happen. I have to be prepared."
I laughed at my best friend arguing proper attire and cosmetics with my boyfriend. I loved that they got along. I wandered into the living room as I was already done primping. Sarah was sitting on the couch with Ben.
"Hey guys!"
They looked over and smiled at me. "Are y'all ready now?" Ben asked.
I smirked, "Well, I am. But you know Em..."
"I heard that!" Emily called from the bathroom.
"I'm not afraid of you!" I called back. I heard rattling in the bathroom and started to laugh, "You locked yourself in the bathroom and can't even get out."
I heard a frustrated noise from inside the bathroom and couldn't help laughing harder. Andy came in the living room and sat with me in the recliner. "What's funny?"
Sarah raised an eyebrow, "You know a recliner is typically a one person seat."
Andy threw a pillow at her, "Yeah, and? I like being near my girlfriend."
"Is Clay meeting us here or are we going to pick him up?" I asked Ben, ignoring the exchange between Sarah and Andy. They fought constantly and it usually was short lived. They couldn't stay mad at each other.
Ben looked over at me, "I haven't heard from him since he said he wanted to go with us. I should call him, huh?"
I laughed, "Maybe, brother, maybe."
Ben and I had to be the closest out of "The Crew" as we had taken to calling ourselves. Sarah, Ben, Clay, Alexis, Emily, Andy, and I were all pretty much inseparable. Actually, we couldn't really stand Alexis and were waiting for Clay to break up with her, but in the meantime we tolerated her. For some reason, she loved hanging out with me and it always made me nervous. Though we all got along collectively, Ben and I clicked like we were missing pieces of the same person. We had taken to calling each other BAWB - or busted ass white brother - and BAWS - or busted ass white sister. People thought I was crazy, but when you don't have real siblings you have to make them up.
Emily finally came out of the bathroom with a smile, "I'm ready."
"Finally!!" Ben, Sarah, and Andy said simultaneously.
I laughed, "Give her a break guys. She's right- you never know what could happen. We're all in relationships and Em is single. We can't deny her the opportunity to meet someone."
Andy burst into laughter, "On Main Street?"
Emily raised an eyebrow, "What is wrong with people on Main Street? We're going to be there."
