"I'm so sorry"...

In that moment Mia felt like her world had ended and nothing was ever going to be right again.

How was she supposed to accept the fact that her best friend had died mere moments ago? And so young and sweet at that. How was she supposed to accept that she would never be able to talk to her again? How was she supposed to change things to make them better? And how was she supposed to tell her she was sorry?

She couldn't. That was what upset Mia most. The fact that she would never be able to tell her practically perfect best friend who had never done a single bad thing to anyone or anything and had never tried to betray, hurt or do anything other than be there for her that she was so, so sorry for what she'd done and that she'd, given the chance, change things back and make them better. But that chance had never come and Katelyn would never know.

Mia had known it was wrong from the start but back then it had just been some fun but then it got out of control and went too far. At first she thought it would fade and no one would be hurt or sad and things could stay the way they were but of course it never came to that and now it never could.

Mia knew that if Katelyn had committed suicide she was partly to blame.

This pushed Mia over the edge.

Begging Adrian to tell her it was going to be alright, she wanted to ask him to hold her because she was afraid she was going to fall even further and never stand up when she felt his warm arms pull her close. In this moment of her worst despair she turned to Adrian as her friend, the way it had been for so many years and she looked for comfort in his arms. She didn't want his love or affection just his arms wrapped around her holding her while she blamed herself for her best friend's death. The only problem was, that she felt as if she would never be able to tell him why....why she blames herself, why it's her fault and why the two of them had made so many mistakes that it should be them dead and not her. Never Katelyn.

Mia thought she would never be able to look Adrian in the eyes again. But who would ask her to? She had known it wasn't right even-though Katie may have said it was. She had seen the looks on Katelyn's face, even-though she hid them well, when he kissed her kissed and she had seen the way the two of them looked at each-other. Yet still she had said yes when he had asked her to go to the dance. She had siad yes when he had asked her if she was sure. She had kissed him as they had been dancing to her favorite song. Mia wanted nothing more than to go back to that day and change all her answers from yes to no.

Looking back to that evening, she knew she wouldn't have taken much persuading...
