Dylan waited for you at your house, nervously playing with his fingers and bouncing his legs up and down. He has been friends with you since you were in diapers, now you're both 25 and living your lives.

He has been dating this girl for almost three months but she hates you. You tolerate her as you love Dylan and want him to be happy. Lately they've been having troubles in their relationship and she blames you for it. Dylan always makes time for you and always talks about you to her. Last night she phoned him and said that if still wants their relationship to work, he has to stop seeing you. He was crushed but wants his relationship to work.

Now he sits, waiting for you to come home from work. Your keys fiddle in the keyhole and you open your door, smiling as you see his messy hair sticking up by the couch.

"Hey Dyl, what's up?", you say placing your mail on the table.

"Uh I really have to talk to you", he says and you nod, taking a letter from the pile and sitting down next to him.

"So you know I really want my relationship to work and so.. one of the things she wants from me..", he starts saying as you read the letter.

"Oh my gosh!", you gasp.

"What?", he asks you.

"My dog died", you say and he frowns.

"Y/N I'm so sorry", he says and places an arm around you. You had a dog that stayed on a big farm with your uncle. Your dog was yours for 10 years.

"Ah wow.. I mean I know she was old but I didn't expect it..", you say and Dylan nods, still holding you close to him.

"I'm sorry.. what did you want to say", you ask and face him.

"Uh you know what.. I'll talk to you tomorrow about it. I have to get some shopping done", he says and gets up.

"Oh okay. I'll see you then", you say as he leaves your apartment.

The next day you're at home, reading a book when Dylan walks through the door, surprising you.

"Okay look, I've been meaning to tell you something for a while now but something always comes up. But I'm just going to say it", he says and you get up noticing his serious tone.

"I can't see you anymore", he says and you tilt your head at him.

"What do you mean?", you ask.

"One of the things she made me promise to do to fix our relationship.. was to stop seeing you", he says and your eyes widen.

"That's crazy.. what are you going to tell her", you ask but immediately realize what he means.

"You've already promised her..", you breathe and your hand places over your heart as you can't imagine not seeing your best friend anymore. Especially because you have lots of mutual friends in common.

"Look.. you know this decision wasn't easy to make but..", he starts saying but you cut him off.

"You'd rather have her in your life than me", you say and he frowns.

"That's not it at all", he says but you grab your coat and your bag.

"Where are you going?", he asks.

"I'm storming off", you say.

"This is your apartment", he tells you.

"Yeah but that's how mad I am", you say and slam the door before heading to Hollands apartment.

She opens the door and immediately frowns when she sees your tear stained cheeks.

"Oh honey what happened?", she asks as she leads you to her couch and you explain what just happened with Dylan.

"I'm so sorry.. I can't imagine you and him not seeing each other", she says and you shake your head.

"Obviously he can", you frown. She sympathizes with you. The doorbell interrupts your girl time and she looks at her watch.

"Uh.. I guess this isn't the best time.. but Tyler and Dyl were gonna come over for a while", she says and you sigh.

"It's okay. I'll go", you say.

"No! I wanted you to come anyway", she says but you shake your head.

"If she found out I was here she would kill Dyl and me so it's best I leave", you say and grab your things.

Holland opens the door to see a sad looking Dylan and smiling Tyler.

"Hey", she says before you come up behind her.

Dylan looks up, glad to see you but frowns when he sees your red face. You say hello to Tyler before hugging Holland.

"I'll call you tomorrow", Holland tells you and you nod before walking passed Dylan to get out. He looks down at you as you don't make eye contact with him. He frowns but turns around and grabs your wrist. You turn to face him but stare at his shirt instead. Holland and Tyler go inside, leaving you and Dylan alone.

"I'm sorry", he whispers and fresh tears roll down your face. He pulls you closer to him but you try pull away.

"Don't", he says softly and grabs your hands, forcing you to look up at him. He sees the sadness in your eyes and feels his heart break.

"I.. I don't want to stop being in your life", he says and you roll your eyes.

"You've already made your decision", you croak and he furrows his eyebrows, looking into your eyes.

"Yeah.. and I phoned her to tell her I can't stop seeing you. I broke up with her", he says and you gasp.

He moves a piece of hair out of your eyes and rubs your cheek with his thumb.

"I realized that I can't live without you.. you're my best friend and.. I realized my feelings for you are stronger than just friendship", he says causing your heart to skip a beat.

"It's always been you Y/N", he whispers and leans down, feeling his breath on your lips, your eyes close at the feeling and he smiles softly before connecting your lips.

He pulls apart to soon, but you smile as he pulls you into a hug.

"Do you want to give us a try?", he whispers in your ear. You nod against his chest, causing him to smile against your head.

You two continue standing in the middle of the driveway, hugging.

"I knew you two couldn't keep apart!", Tyler yells from the doorway, causing you two to laugh before Dylan reaches for your hand and pulls you inside with him.
