Some peace keepers guide me into a well lit room with a grey couch and a white coffee table.
I sit down and wait for someone to come in.
The door opens and my mother walks straight to me with open arms. We hug for a few seconds.
"Sweety, I'm so sorry this happened to you. My poor girl." I can hear that she is just about to cry. " Will you promise to do whatever Marilyn tells you to?"
Marilyn. She is one of my mothers friends. Another victor. She must be mentor this year.
"Yes," I reply. "whatever she tells me to do."
"Good. She is a wise woman. She'll know what you have to do."
Marilyn won the Games 2 years after my mom did, and since then they've been friends.
"I know you can do this, you're strong enough. I know you'll be back."
She smiles at me, and I smile back.
"And listen. Do not become close with any of the other tributes. You'll be crushed when they die. I know how that feels, and I wont let you feel the same."
Andrea. She and my mother were allies from the very first day of their Game. She died at a feast, and my mother never really got over it.
"It's time." says the peace keeper at the door.
My mother hugs me and whispers in my ear: "Be strong."
Then I'm alone again. This must be the hard part. If I fail in the arena, then I've just seen my mother for the last time.
The door opens, and I see Eric. He gives me a long hug, and when he finaly let go, his eyes are full of tears.
"Dont worry. I'll be fine." I say,
"I know you will. You're strong enough to win."
Of course I am. That's why I volunt... would have volunteered.
"I can't believe that you're actually going." says Eric.
"But I'll be back."
The peace keeper in the doorway walks toward Eric.
"Time's up."
Eric holds my hand tight for a second and then he walks out.
Then we go to the train station, wich is crowded with cameras and journalists. I'm glad I didn't cry.
I can tell that Ethan didn't cry either. He looks like he doesn't care at all actually.
When we finally are alowed to go on board the train, I catch him looking at me. I look the other way. Dont be friendly to anyone.
Inside the train Silveene shows me my room. In my room there is a kingsize bed, a closet and a small bathroom. All capitol design.
I change my clothes to a bit more comfortable outfit; a blue pullover and grey sweatpants.
Then Silveene knocks my door. "Time for dinner!"
I take a quick look at myself in the mirror next to the closet.
I look excactly as when I left my house back in district 2, except for my clothes.
When I open the door and walk out in the hallway, I'm close to collide with Ethan. I didn't see him, so I fall. Just before I hit the ground, strong hands catches me. I look up and directly into Ethan's dark brown eyes.
He's handsome. Light brown wavy hair. Big brown eyes. Tall and skinny, but still very strong.
I get up. We stand there for a minute, looking at eachother.
"Watch it." I say and walk hastily to the dinning room.
