I wake with a start as my alarm clock blares some kind of siren into my dark room. As much as I want to go back to bed, I also wanted to get out of this house. So I head to my closet and throw on a pair of black shorts and a plain red shirt. After I brush my teeth, I head downstairs and pour myself a bowl of cereal. Downing it quickly, I nod goodbye to Rachele and Dad, and hop into Nick's car. He emerges from the house a few minutes later, and we head to this Hellhole known as Princeton School. As he parks, he gives me a pep talk about how I'll be fine and not to worry yada-yada and all that. Yeah, right. Belle goes to an all-girls school, so needless to say I'm literally starting from scratch here. Nick tells me where all his classes are, and says to text him if I need help. I sigh and we walk into the building. I head straight to the office where I'll pick up my schedule and all that. I keep my second set of ears as low and as flat as possible. I enter the office and the lady there seems nice enough. She has lovely chocolate brown fur and soft, golden eyes. "Ah, you must be Dokuso! Nice to meet you! I'm Matilda." She says with a glowing smile. She tells me all my classes and where they are, and gives me a map of the building. I walk into the halls, which were nearly empty as class was going to start in about a minute. I make a beeline for my first class- English. As I walk in, the teacher motions me over to her desk. I see the board reads Ms. Aguila, "Dokuso, correct?" I nod. "Just stay here for a second will you?" I nod again. She counts to make sure everyone else is here, and motions me to stand next to her. 'Oh great. She's introducing me to the whole class." I realize with dread. "Okay, class. We have a new student with us today. Everybody, this is Dokuso." She looks at me. "You may go sit down, Dokuso." I make my way to the back of the room, not making eye contact with any of the other students, and sit at a desk in the corner of the room. The class consisted of talking about class rules, and when that was done, Ms. Aguila passed out what appeared to be a quiz. "Now, this isn't for a grade, but please still try on this. I want to see where you all are to see where we need to begin." I took out pen and filled out everything to the best of my ability. A while after I had finished, I saw someone get up and hand Ms. Aguila their sheet, followed by another doing the same thing. So I got up to hand mine in as well. As I sat down again, a loud bell rang, signifying the end of class. I made my way out of the room, following the rest of the class, and glanced at the map to make my way to biology. I walked to my locker, where I had put my textbook in earlier that morning, and fear coursed through my veins as I saw who was standing there. One of Nick's classmates, Gavin, was standing right in front of my locker.
Gavin hated me. He was the first person other than Rachele or some passerby on the street to bully me or call me names. Even though its was pretty much still Summer, he wore his old varsity letterman jacket and jeans. It's like he couldn't feel heat at all. As I trudged closer to my locker, I saw one of this two cat-like ears twitch towards me. I stilled. "Well, well, well. If it isn't the four-eared FREAK." I sighed. "Hello, Gavin. Any particular reason why you're standing in front of my locker?" I looked up at him. Gavin just shrugged. "Felt like it." Now I was getting mad. I only knew of one way that would get him out of my way, and that involved me getting beat up. As usual. Oh, well. "Look, dimwit. I kinda have to get to my locker. So I need you to move your ass." Gavin's tail swished furiously, and he growled at me. "You askin' for a fight?" I just stared at him. He grabbed the collar of my shirt and slammed me into the lockers, kneeing me in the stomach. Good thing I tensed. He punched me once, twice, three times in the face, and stalked off. Well, I now have access to my locker. I staggered upright and grabbed my books from my locker, and made my way to the biology room. Just as in English, I introduced myself, sat at the back of the class, and zoned out.
When it finally ended, I walked to my locker and glanced at the map one last time to see the general direction the canteen was. As I was about to look up, I collided with something, no, someone, and thumped to the floor on my behind. I looked up, and my blood ran ice cold. From what I'd heard, the person I had just run into was the resident bad-boy.
