This time loop was really getting to him. Quentin was tired. Tired of the fighting, tired of the uncertainty, and tired of The Beast. As tired as he was, however, he was also ready. Ready to face him, ready to fight him. Ready to win. He had read the same books, the same pages, the same words, over and over and over. Looking for something, anything. Finally, after all the reading, he found his answer. He didn't find the answer in the books, in the words, no. He found his answer in a woman. His woman. Alice. He was certain that she was the key for defeating the beast. She was his key for everything in life. All the good, all the bad, she was there. So when he asked her to fight with him, he wasn't surprised when she said yes. Janet and Josh were also more than willing. They set out, traveling in search of The Beast. When they finally caught on to where he was, they were ready this time. When The Beast emerged from the darkness, no matter how prepared they were, everyone froze. It was terrifying to see him. It takes more than courage to just look at him. Quentin was the first to speak, declaring the magicians to be The Beast's downfall. Of course, The Beast did nothing but laugh at this, the absolute absurdity of four magicians defeating him was not even a concern of his. However, The Beast's laughter only fueled them more. This creature had to be vanquished, or the world-magical and non- would suffer the consequences of this creature. He was a horrific sight to look upon, his head seemingly made up of buzzing winged creatures, his height far above the rest. His calm demeanor was the most terrifying part. However, the young magicians would not, could not, let themselves be discouraged. Quinten needed only to look at Alice to find his courage. She was there for him, and always would be. Quentin barely heard himself shout at his comrades that it was time. They all faced The Beast, a solid unit, and for the first time this encounter, The Beast's calm shifted. It was this slight falter of façade that catapulted the magicians forward. They four knew it would be fruitless to attack separately, so they attacked together. Josh drew back his hand and cast the smallest knock back spell. Of course, The Beast saw this coming, and easily deflected. Janet saw her cue and cast her own knock back, this time catching The Beast off guard. He swung his arm and the two flew off their feet and fell to the ground, crumpled. Quentin wanted to run to them, wanted to make sure they were still breathing, but this had been expected. It was his cue. He drew back both hands and shouted at the monstrosity before him. The Beast turned and right as Quentin threw his paralyzing spell, The Beast deflected it back at him. Quentin froze, unable to move. He was scared, but also knew that this was what was meant to happen. The Beast laughed wickedly, and exclaimed his victory. He threw his head back, cackling, and a blade connected with his throat. Instead of killing him immediately, Alice took on extra second to remind him that he had forgotten about her, and then she finished him. The Beast collapsed in his own blood, and Alice ran over to Quentin. She pressed her palms to his cheeks, and he could feel her warmth before he regained his ability to move. He immediately locked her in an embrace, shouting for joy. Alice was shaking horribly, and Quentin hated to have to, but he reminded her of Josh and Janet, who lay unmoving on the ground. They ran over, and were relieved to find that they were both breathing. When everyone had recovered as much as they possibly could in a short amount of time, Quentin daringly moved towards The Beast's body. He had to know if The Beast was truly dead. It seemed so surreal, so impossible, that he could barely believe it when he himself felt no pulse from the creature. He collapsed on to his knees next to the corpse, and sobbed in his victory, in his fear. The others had joined him, and they cried out as well, for they had finally defeated The Beast.
