I woke up groggy and restless. I had slept about nine hours, but it felt like I slept for thirty minutes. "Ahh.... What time is it?" I said to myself. The alarm clock read, "9:27." Slowly, I pulled myself out of bed and into the bathroom.
Chitose was walking down the hall. "Hey, Yata-chan~. You look like a zombie. Need some help?" he asked. I shook my head, but he dragged me into the nearby bathroom and shut the door.
"What the hell, Chitose? I'm so freakin' tired." I yelled, rubbing my head where I had hit the counter. Chitose smirked at me.
"I was thinking that maybe you, Masaomi, and I could pick up some chicks. What do you think, Yata?" He winked. I grabbed a comb and began to brush my hair.
I thought about it. Maybe if I did do something to get my mind off of Saru, I'd probably sleep more soundly than last night. Like, I was tossing and turning last night. Basically having a nightmare of memories from middle school.
"Okay. I guess I'll go." Chitose smiled at me.
"Ah... Yata-chan has picked up my great aura of being a real man."

Dewa glared at his partner. "Chitose, why-of all things that happen in this world-must we have to pick up girls?" Dewa nearly broke Chitose's shoulder.Chitose handled this calmly. "Masaomi-kun, you need to get out there more. Since I've known you, you've always been to quiet and serious and calm to get a girl. Besides, Yata needs some experience with women. He's-how old are you?"
"I'm nineteen."
"Nineteen years old, Masaomi! You're twenty-two, for God's sake! You are the one who needs a woman, but you're too picky."
Dewa sighed. "You nearly got killed by an assassin. Do you not remember?" Chitose nodded and turned a corner.
"Here! This is the hot spot!"
I looked at Dewa. "How do you and Chitose always stay friends even when he annoys you?"
Dewa looked at me, then at Chitose, who was talking to a busty girl. "Huh? That's because nothing can separate us. Even if one leaves on his own path, we'll still be reminded of that special connection."
"Oh. I see."

"Hey, Fushimi-san. I thought that maybe you could help us with some...work." A girl with two brown pigtails said, followed by her blond friend.Fourteen-year-old Saruhiko looked up from his novel. I also glanced up to see who was bothering the peaceful nap I was taking. "Help? With what?"
The blond girl smiled and twirled her hair around one finger. "Oh, you know... The assignment we have. The homework Asakura-sensei gave us for tonight. We don't understand the variables and stuff."
Saruhiko looked at me. He knew exactly what they were doing, except for me. "Why would you want Saru's help? Go find someone else. You're disturbing my nap." Saru kicked me in the shin. "Fuck...." I hissed.
"This is our chance to toy with some girls, idiot. Might as well make it worth our time." he whispered. He turned to the girls and smiled. "Sure, I'll help you. Even Misaki-kun would love to, too. Wouldn't you, Mi~sa~ki~?"
"Ah, yeah. I will."
We eventually had the two girls come with us to the arcade. "So, Fushimi. I was wondering that maybe we could hang out more. Together. Alone." the brunette said. She grabbed his hand and leaned in.
Saruhiko shoved her away. She looked startled, and Saru was laughing. "Eww...... You think I'd ever love YOU? I see how you treat the other 'popular' kids. You only want me to help you with your failing academics. You use people selfishly, and yet you don't realize how many people you've hurt."
The brunette left, furious, and grabbed her friend. I came up running to Saruhiko. "What the heck? I thought you were serious about this?"
"I was. I was going to prove them wrong. That's what I meant when I said 'toy'. I wanted them to see their mistakes. I knew that they'd only come to me to help them get back in the cheer squad by getting their grades up."
"But, you helped them."
"I gave them the wrong answers. Besides, would two really hot babes come talk to us, plain guys with an interest of video games?" I shook my head.
I chuckled. "You sure are smart, Saru." I punched his arm lightly. We laughed together and left the arcade.

Dewa turned to me. "Say, wanna head to an arcade or somethin'? Watching Chitose-kun hit on girls is boring me to death." Before I could reply, Dewa pulled out his phone and sent a text to Chitose."Why are you doing that? He's only a couple yards away." I asked, catching up to Dewa.
Dewa smiled at me. "Just a word of advice: When Chitose is around girls, it is safe to send a text when you are leaving, unless you want to be dragged into a sea of women. Especially when you really don't want to get caught up with all of that cheesy flirting."
I nodded. "I like arcades. I used to go there all the time as a student."
I remembered the video game that Saru gave me when we graduated. I really wanted to play it.
