Kaneki's POV...
"My name is Kibaou.." said a brownish haired man, loudly introducing himself in front of us. That surprised me. He made a sudden entrance and I think most of us are curious as to what he would say. Although, I focus on my curiosity as to why he needs to do such an interruption. Maybe he wants attention?
I don't know. In fact, ever since I came to this meeting, I had no clue of what they were all talking about or the strategic plan they were discussing about. Especially, what is this so-called Boss Room? And excel far to defeat a Boss?
Argh...this is giving me a headache...the more I think about this, the harder my confusion will get..let's just wait till Kibaou had finish his sudden topic...
I sighed.
A little more info wouldn't hurt.
...
It has only been minutes when Kibaou's speech was done and here I was slowly giving an even more confused and troubled look at every sentence and the word he's said. I was literary at my limits to this. I even had troubles inside my thoughts now too. My mind was battling between Reason and Ignorance. Whether a reason to analyze why it's needed or fake ignorance to not know and go against the flow.
Argh, no more. I can't take this...
Ironically, I can take difficult exams during my time in college but this gaming sequences stuff are beyond my understanding. Is there a pattern? Thinking for as long as I can give meaning to all he'd just said, I've finally reached my resolve.
It turns out, he was here for revenge about these certain players called Beta Testers. I seriously don't know what they are or who they are but from Kibaou's words, he describes them as bad people.
I guess I should be wary with these types of players then..?
I also took note that they treat other players as a stepping stone and abandon them like trash when they are no longer of any use. Even though they had excelled far on experience and knowledge, they still took advantage of easy preyed players to do the work for them.
For a beginner like me, which Kirito rather calls me a Complete Newbie. I would be easy prey in their eyes, wouldn't it? I, who was transported here, had no sense of these kinds of RPG things nor the knowledge of a game addict and how they think. This may be exaggerating to think but I am basically a lamb exposed in front of a group of wolves.
Out of instinct, I rolled my eyes to the person beside me. Kirito was the only one I can trust with my cluelessness in this. I'm aware that I'm bothering him but this is yet another opportunity to ask about this with him now. Though...
...this won't hurt him, right?
"Um, Kirito..?" I called, "What's a Beta Tester?"
Saying this, I turned to look at him. Once I did, his expression was deep as if he was alone in his thoughts. I wondered if he heard what I just said. Yet, between those expressions, had a very vague feeling, like he was blaming himself, or was it the opposite? I don't know anymore. For now, I'm just gonna leave him till he is done thinking.
My ears went back to Kibaou's speech, and I honestly don't know what he meant, but I can understand some of them.
When Revenge is being played, Doubt also exists.
His anger and desires, his instincts tell him that there's a Beta tester among us. Yet, I still can't give much sense to this but I'm positive that I'm not one of them. Plus, I also think Kirito and Asuna are not one of those Beta Testers too. Especially Kirito, I've known him for a month now and he didn't show signs of taking advantage of me.
