This was true – Sooyoung had asked Meteos to explain how Devourer worked, and the other Soshis plus Heechul and even AOA's Mina in the row behind were leaning forward and were listening with rapt attention as he broke it down.
"It's a bit of the new version of Wriggle's Lantern. It's a stacking jungle enchantment that boosts Attack Speed and grants bonus on-hit magic damage. You get stacks on it for even more of that damage by killing enemy champions or large or epic monsters, and you get more stacks for killing Scuttle crabs, Dragons or Barons. If it gets to 30 stacks, it becomes a Sated Devourer – and you'll be able to tell when the enchantment turns from purple to gold." Meteos told them.
He saw LemonNation ready to chip in, and Lemon saw his nod and picked up the narrative. "At that point, every other attack is going to apply on-hit effects twice, and that means a lot because all of Shyvana's abilities apply on-hit effects. The downside to that is that's going to take time and Hai has Blade of the Ruined King and Sightstone to build first too before he builds defensive items."
"So they're going offensive with no one who can really soak damage early?" Hyoyeon asked.
"They'll get tankier with time because Carlo does build Ahri relatively tanky as a semi-carry top as opposed to full AP, Jensen can build Rylai's too and Hai can get beefier after he gets Blade of the Ruined King and Devourer. But yeah, we're going to be squishy, especially early, so this certainly could work spectacularly or fail spectacularly. We've been on the other side of that – you saw we were able to mow through OMG because we got ahead against them and they had no big tank to stop the bleeding." Meteos answered. "But some good news is that Shyvana does give us some late game threat because Syndra, Zyra, Ashe and Ahri are all early- to mid-game oriented."
"Also, notice how Hai's opting for Exhaust over Flash. That's because Shyvana gets a movement speed boost when she uses Burnout and can jump and dodge with Dragon's Descent, so she can get away using those too." Heechul said. "So that's one of the few exceptions to that rule."
Our defining moment of that game came about 15 minutes in when I spotted CLG grouping around the Dragon. I alerted, "Eyes on Dragon – they're grouping now and trying to take it."
"Been keeping up vision – they don't have the back of the pit or either of the southern tri-brushes warded." Aurora informed.
"We can take a fight since I've got Hurricane." Sneaky added, referring to the item that had put Ashe back into the meta.
"Okay. Gonna TP to the eastern tri-brush, Spirit Rush in and focus on bursting Doublelift." I said.
"Aphro doesn't have Mikael's and Double is saving his QSS for later. I'm going to try to get Pobelter, maybe Aphro too, because if Carlo hits that Charm, we've got so much damage to follow." Aurora said.
"Gotcha. Got my eyes out with the arrow." Sneaky added.
"All right, here goes – Got it!" Hai yelled.
"Attaboy, Hai!" I cheered. Then, I said, even louder, "Doublelift's Charmed!"
"Nice! Kill him! Good stuff, Jensen! Pobelter, Pobelter!" Hai shouted.
"Got 'em!" Sneaky said simply but confidently as we finished the fight.
"Holy s**t, we're clean tonight." Jensen said, laughing.
"Yeah, we are. Except for me, though – I got caught stealing." Hai said with a self-deprecating laugh.
"Hey, not before you jacked their s**t, though. I'd call that pretty clean." Sneaky said.
