You were writing something down on your journal when you received a call from Karlie's sister, Kimby. With a sigh you answer the phone. "Hello?"

"Taylor," Kimby's voice is shaky and she seems breathless. "You have to come to the hospital. It's really important," she says.

You stare into the distance as different scenarios fill your mind. "What? What happened? Is it Karlie?" you ask worried.

"Yes. Yes it is, you have to come here quickly, Taylor. Please," Kimby pleads you. You let out a shaky breath, and as you promise her that you'll be there in ten minutes, you hung up the phone and sprint upstairs. You strip out of your pijamas, and you don't realise you are crying until you are facing yourself in the mirror. The reflection on it isn't you, you don't even recognise the face that is staring back at you. You wipe away your tears, and you apply little makeup, just to seem decent. You pick up your purse, and you don't even bother to call your bodyguards. You decide you will drive, even if you're in no conditions to do it.

You start the engine as quickly as you can, and you head towards the hospital. Your mind is racing and your heartbeat is doing the same. What if she's dead this time? She could be dead and I didn't have a chance to say goodbye to her. She can't be dead. She has to wake up, she will wake up. I can't imagine my world without her. I can't.

With these thoughts, you park in the parking lot of the hospital, and you sprint towards the entrance of the ER. You spot the nurse that you see almost everyday, Karlie's nurse, and as soon as you approach her, she smiles at you.

"Where's Karlie? Is she okay?" you ask in a hurry, and she leads you to your best friend's room without saying a word. You were about to say something, but as soon as you look inside the room and see bright green eyes staring back at you, the words die in your throat.

"Did you miss me?"

She has a playful smile on her face, and her arms spread open as soon as you run towards her and fall in her embrace. You grip her shoulders, as her arms wrap around your back securely. "Karlie," you whisper breathlessly. "You're awake," you smile through your tears.

"I'm back," she whispers against your shoulder, and you can't help but feel her hot breath against your sensitive skin of your neck. You hug her a little tighter, just to ensure yourself that she's really alive and awake, and that this is not a dream.

You pull away slighlty from your warm embrace, and for the first time in a year, you stare at your favorite pair of green electric eyes. They're watery, and they hold happiness and gratitude.

The first thing you want to do is lean in and kiss her passionately, but you realize you can't. Not yet, anyway.

Your staring contest is broke by Kimby, who clears her throat playfully. "I can leave you two alone, if you want," she offers, and you gladly accept it. When she finally leaves the room, Kimby closes the door behind her, and you suddenly feel like you're finally alone with Karlie.

"I'm so happy that you woke up," you say with a smile. Your cheeks hurt, but you don't care, because Karlie is awake, and that's what matters right now.

"I'm happy, too," she agrees, and grabs a hold of your hand. She squeezes it, and you feel yourself blush. "What did you do this past year without me?" she asks, and you feel the playfulness in her voice.

"I was always here, from day one," you reply sincerely. The playful smile vanishes instantly, and is soon replaced by a genuine but small grin. "I sang a lot of songs, I told you about my days and what Meredith or Olivia did," you add.

"Well, I'm sorry but I don't remember any of that," she teases, and you playfully shove her.

There's a little silence that fills the room, and in that moment you realize that you have to tell her about your feelings. You can't hold it in anymore. "I missed you," you whisper, and you bite your bottom lip. "I really did. I missed you everyday,"

"I missed you, too," she replies with the same voice.

You let out a shaky breath, as you start, "Karlie, I have to tell you something,"

She nods worriedly, and tells you silently to come closer. You drop your gaze at your intertwined hands, and you take a deep breath. That's it. I will tell her how I really feel and I will look her in the eyes. "This accident, your coma, made me realize something. It made me realize how life is too short to waste it in fake relationships and put up facades. It made me realize what I want, and what I really want is you, Karlie. I'm in love with you, and it's okay if you don't feel the same. I just wanted you to know, even if I told you that I love you for the past year,"

Karlie is staring at you with slighlty parted lips, but her expression is unreadable. You dare to look at her in the eyes, and as soon as your eyes meet, a smile tugs at her lips. "You love me?" she asks with a little grin.

"Yeah," you nod with a shy smile. "I love you,"

"Fortunately that I have woken up, otherwise I might not have done this," she says seriously, and before you can process the meaning of her words, she quickly cups your face with her hands and crashes her lips against yours.

You instantly close your eyes, and you think how her lips are sweet like candy and taste like heaven. You move slowly your lips against hers, and you fall into a slow and steady pace. Her hands intertwine in your blond hair, and you place yours on her forearms, trying to bring her closer. You don't even want this kiss to end, not even when your lungs are screaming for air. You feel her tongue trace over your bottom lip, and you open your mouth to let her in. You can't help but moan quietly, and a warm feeling begins to make its way on your lower half of your abdomen. She smiles against your lips, and pulls away breathlessly.

"Was this worth the wait?" she asks teasingly.

You smile, and you brush your nose against hers. "Absolutely."
