It is not every summer that you can fight ghosts, zombies, gnomes and strange triangular demons... Nope. It is not every summer that you can encounter the supernatural. But certain twins had done just that and more.
Dipper and Mabel Pines had just experienced the best summer of their whole lives. But everything good (and bad) has to come to an end.

"I can't believe we will have to wait until next summer to go back to Gravity Falls, " sighed Mabel. Her head was placed on her brother's shoulder. It hadn't moved from there since they had left Gravity Falls. Waddles was on Mabel's lap, although he had moved around during the trip.
Dipper clutched a very special piece of paper to his chest. "Well, at least we know they will be waiting for us."
He looked down at all the names written on it. How could he possibly make new friends as awesome as the ones he had made this summer? He realised that all those friends he thought he had out of Gravity Falls weren't as real friends as the ones he had made this summer.
"I know," Mabel replied.
The twins looked out of the window just when they passed a post saying they had reached California.
"A few hours left," Dipper commented as he took off the hat Wendy had given him and looked at it with a melancholic expression.
"Oh cheer up brother!" Mabel said, suddenly jumping up. "We will go back home, make the best out of our first high school year, enjoy time together and go back to Gravity Falls! I'm actually pretty excited. I really want to tell mum and dad about our summer!!!"
Dipper smirked. "Sure, but will they believe you?"
Mabel turned upside down on her seat and gave Dipper an upside down smile. "Why wouldn't they?"
"Well... The things we have seen are things people like our parents can only imagine. They've never seen any supernatural stuff so it's possible they won't believe it's true. "
"Ugh Dipper you ruin all the fun!" Mabel stick her tongue out at him. "I will prove you wrong!"
"Whatever Mabel," he said. "I'm going to write a while on my journal soooooo if you don't mind, could you please get off me?"
The hyperactive Mable had just laid down on Dipper's lap while doing strange faces at him.
"Okaaaaay!!!" she nearly yelled, making Dipper's ears hurt, and then took out her knitting kit.
Dipper rubbed his ears and proceeded to take out his journal. It had been a 13th birthday present from his great uncle Ford.
He had said "Dipper, you have proved to me that you need no journal to manage well by your self, and I'm really proud of you. The thing is that someday, there may be someone who needs help and I think you are the ideal person to do so." He gave him a blue book with a golden pine tree on its cover.
"Write everything you know and everything you discover. You will do great things Dipper... well actually, you already have. I just wanted to make sure you knew." He gave Dipper a warm hug before continuing. "We will meet again next summer or maybe even sooner than what you expect..."
Dipper opened the book and started to write about everything he could remember from that summer. He dedicated some good 6 pages to Bill Cipher and at the end wrote the famous "do not summon at all costs". He knew Bill was gone but thinking about him made him shiver from fear. Dipper didn't think he would ever manage to even look at a yellow triangle again without having a heart attack or something. Wierdmageddon had left a deep scar in the boy's childhood, a scar that would never completely heal.

Two colourful sweaters and 12 journal pages later, the twins were fast asleep when they finally arrived at Piedmont, California.
The bus stopped all of a sudden and the kids woke up with a start. Dipper stood up, ready to defend himself just to then realise that they were in no danger at all. He took a deep breath, ignoring Mabel's laughs. They got all their luggage and were about to go off the bus when Dipper stopped.
"Mabel..." he said, looking down. He looked up again and their eyes met. She then knew exactly what he needed, something that she needed too.
"Awkward sibling hug?" She asked.
"Awkward sibling hug." He responded.
They hugged tightly and said at the same time "pat, pat" whilst patting each other's back. When they finally separated, they smiled.
With a new found energy, Dipper and Mabel Pines stepped off the bus into the ordinary world they had once known and that now seemed so strange and unfamiliar... but they knew that as long as they stayed together, everything would be fine.
A/N I don't own any of the characters... I wish I did.
