Haley's POV

"Is chicken Alfredo okay with you?" Sebastian asked. I watched as he pulled out all the ingredients from the fridge and cabinet.

"Yeah that's perfect." I replied, leaning against the kitchen island as I watched Sebastian.

"Do you cook?" He asked. His sleeves were rolled up and he was washing his hands.

"Sometimes, not really. Most of the time my roommate and I go out and grab a bite somewhere." I replied.

I actually loved to cook, it helped take my mind off things. But I was far too lazy and didn't want to clean all the dishes afterwards.

"Roommate?" Sebastian turned around to face me with his eyebrows raised.

"Yeah, her name is Rose. We met in college." I said.

"College huh? What'd you study?"

"Psychology," I replied.

"Is that right?"

"Yep."

"So then what are you doing here working for me?" He let out a laugh as he turned back around to the sink and turned off the water, he began drying his hands and looked back over to me.

I laughed along with him and shrugged, "Easy money I guess. Also I couldn't find any jobs that had to do with psychology after college so I just took whatever was offered to me."

"Mhm bummer." He nodded slowly.

"Yeah." I said slowly as I rocked back and forth on my feet.

I watched as he took out a big pot and began boiling some water for the pasta. He started whistling some tune that I wasn't familiar with and continued cooking with his back turned to me. He didn't say anything and I started to feel awkward and nervous again for some reason.

"So, what do you like to do for fun?" I asked, finally breaking the long awkward silence.

He took a long pause before he opened his mouth to respond, "Nothing."'

"Nothing?"

"Yep."

"What do you mean? There has to be something." I replied as I leaned on the counter to get closer to watch as he cooked.

"I don't have time for things like that." He turned around to finally look at me. I was a little caught off guard at how fast he turned around and I quickly got up off the counter and stood up straight.

"Well that must suck." I said, letting out a small chuckle.

He raised an eyebrow at me almost as if he was taken back at what I said and turned back to the stove without responding.

"I mean, everyone needs a break every now and then." I shrugged and leaned back on the counter, I felt a lot calmer and less nervous now that he wasn't looking at me.

"Well I'm not everyone." He said quietly, with no emotion in his voice.

I opened my mouth to say something back but nothing came out, I didn't know what to say back to that. I had so many questions to ask him, so much curiosity. I wanted to know more about him, more about his life. But I didn't wanna be annoying and bombard him with a million questions.

So I just stood there and said nothing. He also said nothing and just continued to cook as I stared at his back, still whistling.
