jaebum wakes up feeling perplexed.
jinyoung isn't beside him, and the bed's cold. he'd expected the younger to be in the shower, but everything is eerily silent. maybe he's just outside, he thinks, but he looks to his right to find nothing but a table lamp—no sight of jinyoung's phone, or his wristwatch. what he did see though, was the thin silver chain that matched with jaebum's. jinyoung practically never takes it off, and that confuses jaebum even more. why would he leave it here?
he rubs his neck and sits up, ruffling his hair and getting out of bed. he pads out of the bedroom, hoping to find the ceiling fan switched on, maybe the buzz of the boiler, even. but there's nothing outside—everything is silent. eerily silent.
"nyoung-ah," jaebum calls quietly, "babe– are you home?" he gets nothing back, except for his own words echoing back into his ears. he comes to the sad conclusion that, indeed, jinyoung just left the house without writing a note or sending a text.
but why did he leave? even if it was an emergency, the least he could've done was text me after he's gotten to wherever he needs to be. jaebum slumps onto the couch, flopping his face into a throw pillow and pulling at his hair. nothing's making sense.
the heavy rain hasn't stopped since jinyoung left. jaebum's heart beats louder than the thunder claps, and his thoughts are as wild as the lightning. but what can he do, besides trying to call his boyfriend and text him about his whereabouts? where exactly would he be able to find jinyoung, especially in this downpour?
jaebum gives up; completely, truly, utterly defeated.
