A ring echoes throughout the whole school followed by a round of screams. That's right, we were let out of the jail that we call school. I join in the yelps of excitement as we all sprint to get out of our classrooms.
Exiting the classroom I hear two extremely loud screeches. Not that that's weird or anything because it seems as if everyone is on drugs right now. But these screeches are very familiar.
I turn around only to see two figures darting towards me. Having only a second before I'm ambushed I take a deep breath, just so you know I at least have air before they squeeze that out of me.
"Emma!" They yell in unison and then wrap their arms around me.
Yep, you got it, these are the idiots I call my besties.
"Can't breath," I say in a gasp.
"Oh," Amber says and quickly lets go of me. Then straightens out to her full height. Which is tall. Not really sure the actually number or anything. But she towers over me and I'm average height.
Quin doesn't get the message right away. So, of course, I try to push her off of me. But that does not work, at all.
"Quin!" I gently scold.
"Right." she says and unwraps her arms from around me. Then shakes them out as if they got sore from hugging me.
I gasp in a few breaths for a second.
Quin looks down at her feet, almost if she's nervous. "Sorry, I just feel as if I won't see you for a while. You know with colleges and all."
"Quin it's fine. I just was not prepared for that." I tell her with a small smile.
She smiles at me and then looks towards Amber and spreads open her arms.
"No!" Amber squeals and runs away, looking petrified.
I bark out a laugh and soon Quin joins me. Leaving Amber glaring at the both of us.
Hey, it's not my fault that she looked as if she was going to get killed by some fighter jet.
"It's not funny!" Amber says while trying not to crack a smile.
Quin opens her arms again and Amber screeches.
"You got that right." I say. "It hilarious!"
Amber puts a heated glare on me and I just shrug.
"You guys I'll see you at the mall this weekend. But I got to go." I say knowing that Ethan doesn't like to wait.
"With Ethan?" Amber says suggestively, wiggling her eyebrows.
"Alone?" Quin joins in.
I punch them both lightly on the shoulder. "He is just my best friend. Unlike you guys at the moment."
"I'm telling you that he totally likes you," Amber says twirling a piece of her hair. Quin nods in agreement.
"No, he doesn't. Plus the only reason we are going to be alone is because you guys didn't want to come." I say giving them a pointed look.
"Yeah," Quin giggles. "We didn't want to get involved with your lover's fest."
"I'm just going to leave. See you guys this weekend!"
"Bye!" Quin says at the same time as Amber goes, "Have fun!"
I head towards my almost emptied out locker when someone from behind me slaps my back. Not a light, gentle "hey I'm here" slap. No, of course, it wasn't. It was the "I'm so excited that school is out that, I forgot you weren't a punching bag" slap.
