Taehyung took his time to walk towards Dr. Lee's office and tried to gather his thoughts. I can do this. He nodded bravely to himself before turning the door knob to the office and going in.

"Ahh... Mr Kim, I see you're back. Are you sure this is your final decision?" Dr. Lee asked. Taehyung nodded and said, "And I want to do the surgery as soon as possible. It would be the best if it's done within today or tomorrow."

Dr. Lee's brow furrowed, "And why is that so?" Taehyung sighed, "My best friend will be coming back to visit Jungkook the day after tomorrow and I really don't want him to know about my decision as I know he would definitely not agree to it."

"Mr Kim... You should at the very least let your family members know..." Dr. Lee muttered sadly. "Actually, I've written a few letters to the important pupils in my life and if you don't mind, would you help me to pass it to them if I don't make it?" Taehyung requested.

Dr. Lee nodded and Taehyung took out a stack of envelop before passing them to Dr. Lee. "You might not know some of them. But you could pass them to Jiminie... He would know all of them," Taehyung smiled slightly.

"Are you really sure you want to do this?" Dr. Lee asked one last time and Taehyung nodded. "Alright then, Mr Kim. I'll arrange a surgery with the higher class doctors and we'll do it as quickly as possible. I'll send a nurse to inform you when the surgery is confirmed. In the meantime, why don't you go and accompany Mr Jeon," Dr. Lee smiled softly.

Taehyung nodded one last time before taking leave. While walking back to Jungkook's ward, a tear unconsciously slipped through his eyes and more followed after. Soon, tears were falling from his eyes like waterfall.

Leaning his body against the wall, Taehyung sobbed and tried to stop his tears from falling. He cried and his body slid down from the wall.

"I'm sorry."

-Time Skip-

After breaking down, Taehyung went to the toilet and washed himself. Before he could reach Jungkook's ward, his phone rang.

"Hello?" He greeted, voice slightly hoarse. "TaeTae! How are you doing?" Jimin's chirpy voice rang through his phone and Taehyung laughed.

"Hey, are you okay? Your voice sound really hoarse... Did you cry again?" Jimin accused. Taehyung laughed slightly, "Nah, just a small sore throat since I didn't drink enough water."

"You're not lying?" Jimin questioned and Taehyung smiled, "Yeah. Not lying." Jimin hummed, "So? How are you doing?"

Taehyung replied with a, "Could have been better. But I'm fine overall." It was half a lie and half the truth. Jimin's smile could be heard through his tone as he said, "That's good! Well, I'm gonna have to go now. Call me if anything happens, yeah?"

Taehyung hummed and muttered, "Bye Chim." Which Jimin replied with a, "Bye Tae." Before the both of them hung up. One with a happy mood, thinking that his best friend was doing fine. Another one with a bad mood since he had just lied to his best friend.

"It's okay, Taehyung. You had no choice," Taehyung assured himself as he stared into his own reflection in the mirror, eyes swollen, nose red and hair a mess.

"Fuck, Kim Taehyung, you're such a mess... How do you plan on taking care of Jungkook if you can't even take care of yourself..." Taehyung muttered to himself.

He lets the water run again, splashing his face multiple times. He sighed as he turned off the tap and ran a finger through his badly tousled hair.

Taehyung took one last look at himself before heading off to Jungkook's ward.

He enters the room with a heavy heart as he settled down on the chair beside the bed.

"Jungkook-ah... Don't you think you've been sleeping for a long time? Could you please wake up and let me see you before I go..?" Taehyung said softly, caressing Jungkook's cheeks gently.

"There will be days to come when I'm actually gone, you might find life harder than usual. Although your memory loss would be temporary and you would remember me again. I want you to remember me smiling and not crying, okay? I want you to know that I loved you, I love you and will continue to love you even if I don't make it," Taehyung smiled sadly.

"I'm sorry I couldn't keep the promise of being together forever. If only I wasn't in school that day... If only I knew something like this would happen..." Taehyung whispered, tears unconsciously flowing down his cheeks.

"How I wish I was the one who is injured, not you... How I wish this never happened," Taehyung sobbed.

"I miss you so much, you know, Kookie? I miss your hugs, I miss your laughs, I miss your voice, I miss the way we cuddle in bed, I miss your kisses. I just miss you so, so much," Taehyung cried.

"If there's a chance, let's be together in our next life too. If I don't make it, I'll be watching over you in heaven. If I do make it... I'll probably not be around Korea anymore. Maybe we will meet again, Kookie..." Taehyung smiled bitterly.

"Let's hope for the best, Kook-ah... and I just want you to know, I really do love you... so much," Taehyung finished off before placing his lips on Jungkook's.

Taehyung closed his eyes, trying to carve this moment into his memories. He pulled back and opened his eyes, before placing his head on Jungkook's chest, silent tears coursing down his cheeks.

With sorrow burning in his heart, Taehyung listened to Jungkook's steady heartbeat, assuring him that the man below was still alive. Taehyung closed his eyes before drifting off to sleep.

What he failed to realize was Jungkook's hands attempting to move towards him. The finger rose a little, before falling back to it's original position. What Taehyung also failed to notice was a stranded tear that fell from Jungkook's eyes.
