Mia's POV:

The first thing I could smell was the smell of salty water.

Sea water.

Then I could suddenly hear the sound of waves crashing wildly. Against a boat.

My eyes flashed open, panic flooding through me. I opened my eyes widely in fear, anxiously darting my eyes around the area. I'm on a boat. A silver jet boat. It has the drivers area which is covered by a glass shelter, then the rest of the boat has no shelter. The boats rushing through the water, the wind wildly hitting against me.

I couldn't see very clearly, there's a lot of fog surrounding the area. I couldn't see who else was on the boat, but I knew it was Mikes gang.

Rain was pouring down viciously, causing my entire body to shiver and drench, water trickling down my hair, face and back, my outfit damp and soaked. The sea's now smashing over the boat, causing shivers to run down my spine. I'm tied up with ropes, a piece of masking tape placed over my mouth. I shrieked, horror wiping through me.

"Don't go any further!" I heard one of them snap, causing the boat to almost instantly stop to a halt.

"The boat will flip over if we keep going out!" Another one of them yelled in pure horror "they're awake as well! Take the rope and masking tape off." He quickly added in, as I felt a hand grasp my arm, untying the ropes and ripping off the masking tape.

"Pull them off here, they're not too close to surface and will die before they reach it." I heard another shout, which I could instantly recognise as Logan.

I shuddered. They're going to kill me, and whoever else is on the boat. My eyes blurred from the rain, my hair limply dropping down by my side. I felt another hand grasp me, forcing me to stand up and placing a knife against my neck. I shivered as the cold metal lightly pressed against my neck, causing my entire body to freeze.

"Get to the end of the boat and throw her off!" I heard another guy demand, as the guy who's currently holding me tugged me to the edge of the boat.

I suddenly felt electric shocks run through me, but not from fright. From his touch. I warily looked out of the corner of my eye, to look at who it was. I knew it was Leo. His brown chocolatey eyes filled with fright and nervousness, as he wrapped an arm around my waist, preparing to throw me off the boat.

"Leo, no!" I squealed quietly, only loud enough for him to hear. He instantly loosened his grip, snapping his head forward to face me. He looked at me in confusion, as if trying to work out who I am.

"Hurry up!" I heard Logan yell in anger and fright hidden behind his voice.

"What?" I heard Leo's dark and husky voice snap, but worry hidden behind it. I looked into his eyes, as if trying to tell him who I am. But he didn't recognise it, and prepared to shove me off the boat, the knife digging against my neck again.

"Ok, that's it!" I heard Logan snap as he rushed towards Leo, suddenly shoving him. I shrieked, grasping onto Leo like it depended on my life. Because at the time, it did.

As all of a sudden, Leo's body fell. He fell forward, tripping over the edge of the boat and fell in, letting go of the knife as he gasped in horror.

I let go of Leo, feeling water instantly hit my body, causing a shriek to escape out of my mouth and my body to freeze. The water slammed against me, causing my body to tug to the left and right, panic entering me.

I hate water, so much.

It's what they used to torture me a few times, and ever since, I've been petrified.

I forced my arms and legs to move, trying to force my way through the sea, trying to erase the memories of how water almost killed me several times before.

I suddenly heard the boat race off as I forced my head to stay above the freezing cold water. I feel like an ice cube. I looked to my side, seeing Leo struggling, however not as bad as me. He's able to lift his head above the water and tug through the water.

"Leo!" I gasped, desperation filling me. He warily looked to the side, seeing my petrified eyes.

He let out a sigh, swimming back to me and wrapping his hand around mine. He shuddered under my touch, as did I.

I felt a sudden boost of confidence make its way through me, knowing Leo's here. Even if he doesn't know who I am. Even if he almost killed me. Even if he knocked me out.

I kicked my legs forward, my arms forcing its way through the ice cold water.  We managed to together make our way through the water, even though my body felt like it were about to fall asleep.

After a minute of swimming forward, through the water tugging us back, I managed to see through the fog slightly, seeing a think line of sand appear in the distance.

"Land!" I screeched at Leo, feeling out of breath. He snapped his head forward, clearly seeing it too. This gave us a boost of confidence, even though we could hardly see nor move.

We tugged our way through the water, smashing at us, entering our mouths causing us to choke up water. It looked around 10 meters away, however we forced ourselves to constantly keep going.

Don't give up.
This is risking Leo's life.
Also mine.

My thoughts echoed, giving me the last boost of confidence, my arms and legs going weak, hardly able to move. My leg and arms went slower, only moving centimetres before the sea forced me back again. Leo however was ahead of me slightly, tugging me forward, keeping me going.

"Hurry." He breathed, using his weak energy to pull me forward so we were beside each other again. I weakly nodded, moving my arms and legs, trying so hard to get to that land.  I can't let the sea win. I can't let Mike win.

A meter awake. It's taken minutes to get here, but it feels like it's been years. The waters caused my entire body to freeze.

"You can stand." I heard Leo gasp, through the cold air, as he reluctantly stood up, grasping my hand tightly to tug me up. I moved my legs down, my entire body shivering as I felt the sandy surface, causing me to let out a heavy sigh in relief. I stood up, my heart pounding. We forced our legs to move forward, me almost collapsing a few times, however Leo's tight grip securely lifting me up again before I could fall onto my knees.

We finally reached the sand, the first thing me doing was falling onto the ground, curling up in a ball, trying to keep in as much heat as possible as my entire body shivered from the cold, tears spilling down my cheeks. We made it. We got to land. And we're alive. Just about.
