Emotion.
Emotions are fantastic, and while it isn't too fun to cry yourself to sleep, sometimes you need to. No, not because you need to, "let it all out" but because you simply cannot be happy unless you have felt sad. Happiness and sadness need to coexist, otherwise, happiness would dull out. Like all matter, emotions can't be created or destroyed, they reform and turn into something different. For example I just cried out of grief for a family member, but I talked to someone who I appreciate very much and those negative emotions went neutral- then almost joyful. Though, I'm not quite there yet. Emotions are controversial, because, while they're very interesting and vast and there are so, so, many ways to talk about them, you can't control them. They're like wild animals inside of your head, fighting for dominance. You can however, calm them. Meditate, take a nap, I don't know, I'm not a genius, I just like to write about deep shit.
Anyways, you can't really control them. The way someone else effects how you feel, is just how you are. You could be drawn to this person, or you could repel them, like a magnet. Although in this case it's so much more than opposites attract, because everyone is different. Everyone experiences emotions differently, and they cope with them differently. It's amazing that we've gotten so far in psychology to know the "proper" ways of coping, when there are so many negative and positive reactions to a billion different scenarios. I'm gonna warn you right now if you easily get stressed out by thinking about existence, just skip this chapter. We're living on a tiny speck, aimlessly shooting through an infinite open space, but emotions and morals are all we ever care about. For example, I'm in my study hall right now, and I have to be here. It's against the law for me to not be here. But people only get educated because you need to graduate to do something with your life. You get to choose your path in life and you choose what makes you happy. You're not just gonna go your entire life learning about math, science, history, and language arts, then work at Taco Bell and live with your parents, are you? You're gonna do what you want to because it makes you happy. And happiness is all that anyone wants in life. Whether you find it in reading books, writing books, playing sports, traveling, or making other people happy, you gotta do it man. Don't waste your life, you only have one, so cherish it. Make it a damn good life.
