past.
As every Sunday, Nova was sitting at the top of the stairs that occupied the hall of her house facing the front door, waiting for her father to cross it. She was waiting for him to arrive to tell her how his last hunt had been. No, not an animal hunt. A supernatural hunt.

Yes, the legends of ghosts, demons, vampires were real and that's what Nova's father does. Ever since she was a child, listening to Joel's stories about her hunts is what she liked best. She anxiously waited for her father's return to tell her what it was like.

The child wanted to remain waiting for her father. She wanted to make sure that he would return home safe and sound like every other time; on the other hand, she was tired. Her small body couldn't stand to stay awake for another minute. The last thing the youngest Webber remembered before falling asleep was her mother carrying her to her room.

Her slumber was light and interrupted by the commotion downstairs. For the child, it was just seconds of sleep.

Hesitantly, the girl got up to find out where the sound was coming from and the reason for the ruckus. When she peeked through a small crack in the door, the noises immediately became familiar; the screams of anguish and growls of dogs. Nova wanted to know what was happening. It could just be her father watching a horror movie on TV, movies that she remembered her father commenting are not legitimate to what the supernatural really was. Each step she took increased her comprehension of the noises. She could now hear the voices clear, recognizing one of them being her father's.

"Tell me once and for all, Joel," The voice sneered. "Where is your little precious hidden?" The unknown figure spoke in the midst of the upheaval.

"You can't take her," Joel retaliated, as what seemed to be a whisper. "It's protected from the demons."

Already at the top of the stairs, Nova witnessed something she'd never forget, something that wouldn't seem real if she weren't seeing it herself. The instant she saw both her parents lying on the floor covered in their own blood, Nova cried out in fear and agony. All she could see were tears spreading like magic in her father's torso, making her inside visible to her. And her mother no longer seemed alive.

When her raucous screamed echoed through the house, the demon, who until then was admiring his work, turned with his black eyes to the girl. A big smile appeared on his face when he spoke. "There she is." Terrified, she hurried back into her room, locking herself up. She felt as if that was the only place in the house where she was safe.

With her back pressed to one end, the four-year-old girl was wailing for her parents. She wanted this all to be a nightmare. She was afraid of being caught by the creature with eyes full of darkness and chaos. All Nova could hear were footsteps down the hallway and dog-sniffing.

"Don't be shy. I just want to play." She heard the creature chasing her again, now closer to her safe harbor.

Closer and Closer.

Nova's, eyes closed and face red with stained tears, cringed as she heard the footsteps cease at her door, She thought it was the end.

Silence.

That was all she heard before a vehement crash rang through the house. She didn't know what it was. Another bang mirrored, and she now recognized the sound like a gunshot. Unknown murmurs derived from the opposite side of her door, then a scream. Nova didn't know what else to do other than make a soft knock on the door and voice her thoughts.

"Please, don't hurt me!" She yelled at him hoarsely.

"Don't worry, I won't do anything bad to you." The voice on the other side of the door appeared squeamish. She didn't respond, not wanting to be in danger again. "Nova, right?"

"Yes." With hesitant steps, she walked to the door and unlocked it to find a man in the hallway. His face looked tired, and his lopsided beard was hovering a half-smile. Nova, still with several questions in her head, decided to go with a simple one. "Who are you?"

"My name is John," He bowed to at the height of the child he'd just saved, displaying an authentic smile now. "John Winchester."

"Do you know what happened to my parents?" Her voice was no longer shaky but was still frightened.

John appeared apprehensive to answer the question; however, he knew it was necessary. She needed to know what had happened. He let out a sighed before answering.

"Your parents were killed by dogs from hell. They were being led by a demon." Said John.

Nova just nodded, unsure of what to do. She witnessed her parents being tortured until they lost their lives entirely. She wanted to know what they had done to deserve such a cruel fate. She didn't understand why the demon wanted her so terribly. With all those doubts, there was only one she knew John could answer right away.

"What do I do now?"

From that day, Nova Webber was a turned-hunter by John, along with Dean and Sam Winchester. She lived in different cities, different colleges. She created a great bond with the boys and also with John, never ceasing to thank him for saving her that day.
