Chapter One

Lavender ears popped out the top of my head. My hair turned bright purple and flowed more elegantly and was a lot longer. A forked tail sprouted from behind me.

This was what it was like to be a Mutant. And I absolutely loved it.

"Emmy! Whoa, you transformed...?" Meadow questioned in disbelief.

"I know right? My birthday is in November, this shouldn't be happening in February!" I replied in disbelief. I looked around and realized that the bright flash that had resulted from my turning into Mutant form had caused pretty much everyone in camp to turn and look at me. This is embarrassing, since I'm the third person to turn Mutant in camp. Jaws were dropped in disbelief.

I did a little wave before dropping back onto the grass. We were doing yoga today in training. As soon as I moved into the new position we were in, I heard large footsteps on the grass beside me. I looked up to see Professor Maple. A stern look was placed on his face, but when he started to speak, a fake smile curled his lips.

"You've transformed into Mutant form. Congratulations. You are the third person to transform," he announced curtly before turning away. Awkward... Why is he so irritated?

"Pssst! Emmy!" I heard a whisper beside me. Turning to the side casually, I realized it's Georgia, who really shouldn't be there.

"Georgia! What are you doing here, you should be with the bug-types!" I whisper-shout.

"Yeah but you transformed! Into Mutant form!" she sang in disbelief. I rolled my eyes before laughing nervously. I guess it is a big deal...

Just like when I won my first battle, everywhere I went people were clapping, cheering, or patting me on the back. It was a little awkward for me, especially when I was trying to eat dinner.

Later, at night, the girls and I decided it would be a good idea to have a spa night. We painted each other's nails with patterns like our Pokémon. Mine were light purple, with red thumbs. Georgia's were yellow with four little blue dots on them, Summer's were light blue and her pinkie had a swirl and her thumb had a Squirtle shell, Meadow's were alternating pale green and black with music notes of the color she didn't use for that fingernail, Pen's were alternating blue and light blue with pinkies being little webbed feet, Sapphire's were pink with bows, and Candy's were a fade from white to light green. The next day everyone complimented our awesome fingernails.

Soon strange news began spreading around camp. Gens were going missing, with no trace left behind. Even their bags and clothing were still in their cabins. Gen camp was put on lockdown, and Professor Maple hired police officers to keep watch at night outside the cabins.

One night I couldn't sleep, so I sat at the window and gazed out into the woods. The full, bright moon shone down on the light snow covered ground, and a slight breeze rustled the dark trees of the forest. I don't know why, but whenever there's a full moon, I'm calmer instead of going crazy like some people. Out of the darkness, a pitch black figure dashed past the window. I hardly had a glimpse of it before the dark silhouette was gone. Paralyzed and unsure of what to do, I started dumbly in shock out at the stillness of the night.

Looking down, I realized I had changed subconsciously into my Mutant form. Whoops. I transformed back into my normal self, still shaken by the strange creature I witnessed. It was a little larger than human sized, and seemed like it had long, ragged hair. Finally, I regained my wits and crawled back into bed, slipping into a dreamless sleep.

"Emmy Emmy Emmy Emmy Emmy!" a very urgent voice urged me to wake up. Instantly I sat bolt upright, hitting my head on the ceiling.

"Owwwww!" I groaned in pain. Can't a girl get woken up with hurting herself?

"Sheesh, someone's alert. Do you know where Georgia went?" Pen asked nonchalantly. I hopped down from my bunk, glancing around the room and realizing that everyone except Georgia was there.

“Georgia? No, I haven’t seen her since last night,” I responded.

“Oh. Did you happen to see anyone in our room late last night?” Summer interrogated.

“Well… no, not in our room. But I saw a big figure running around outside last night.” She frowned.

“That’s not too helpful,” she sighed. I wondered if Georgia was still in her bed after I went back into my bunk. Argh, I should’ve checked!

Suddenly I realized she could’ve been taken in the middle of the night, and that could be what’s happening to the people who have been going missing!

“Oh my gosh guys! What if… what if she was taken?” Sapphire suggested, freaking out a little.

“She-she’s probably going to the bathroom or something. Right guys?” I tried to reassure her. Everyone nervously nodded in agreement. I quickly changed and we headed out for breakfast. When we finished, there was still no sign of Georgia. Reluctantly Summer went up and told Professor Maple that Georgia was missing.

The day went on as normal, except without Georgia. It was a little awkward between all of us without a sassy comment from her on anything we said. Soon the long day ended, and we all turned in for the night.

The next day at dinner Destiny and Professor Maple stood on the stage, Destiny beaming in excitement. It seemed like there was another announcement to made, and the room buzzed with people guessing what the sudden notice was about.

“Attention, everyone!” Professor Maple called. “We are starting some new programs here at Gen camp thanks to a petition that’s been going around for clubs that people can be in since the Gens here are missing their high school experience. There will be a cheer squad, football team, basketball team, baseball team, softball team, art club, choir, and band. Sign-ups are on the walls. That is all.” I immediately hopped up from my seat to sign up for art club, choir, and band. I’ve been playing my Pokeflute since I was ten! Meadow, Summer, and Sapphire also signed up for art club, we all signed up for choir, and Meadow, Sapphire, and Candy also signed up for band. Meadow signed up for softball as well.

“This is the best idea they’ve had yet!” I cheered, and everyone agreed. I just can’t wait for them to start!

Two days later they did, and I had to get up extra early for band in the morning, which was right before school. We met in the lobby of the school and I glanced around to see that Chip and Mario had joined too. They both played the violin. Meadow played the flute, Sapphire played the piano, and Candy was in percussion. Professor Maple had also hired a band director, and we had tons of fun learning a new piece.

After school I get to have art club, where one of the teachers supervises. We worked on painting a picture of our Pokémon. My rough draft was of an Espeon in a meadow with a bunch of flowers and a rainbow. Summer's Squirtle was swimming in an ocean with a sunlight spotlight on it shining through the water, Meadow's Meloetta was singing with a background of music notes, and Sapphire's Sylveon was on a pile of bows and it was going to have a bunch of glitter on the final painting.

After Gen camp we went to choir, which was so much fun doing warm-ups and learning a song.

Everything was going along great, except without Georgia. I wished she were there, but there wasn't much I could do to find her.

Hay guys! I thought I'd make the chapters of this book super extra long :) So people *cough* Sydney *cough* have been coming up with theme songs for their books. I thought I'd try it but I wasn't sure if I should make it a Pokémon song. If it was it would totally be the theme of Battle Galactic, "We Will Be Heroes." If it was a normal song, maybe... "Everything Has Changed" by Tay Tay Swift? If anyone has suggestions, I'll take em! Comment please!
