I padded across the dark field full of rotting corpses. There among the dead are the cries for mercy. The soft pleads for their suffering to end. I wasn't doing to good myself either. My mother, father, sister. I had seen them all taken from me with my very eyes. My black fur was torn and bleeding, my right eye had been taken out of socket long ago.
"How did it come to this?" I wondered. I kept walking, smelling the stench of rotting flesh and burning fur in my nostrils. The smog had cleared, but the darkness remained and seemed to swallow everything besides the bright orange flames that lazily dragged across the once green grass now paint with a fresh coat of warm red. I searched for one person, just one. I walked past every living thing that begged for my assistance. I didn't care for them, only her. But when I reached the end of the field, it was too late.
"No!" I screamed. There lay Aether, all the cool blue color drained from her eyes. A pool of blood stained her coat and pooled at the ground beneath her. Large bite marks from a previous struggle made holes in her throat. My friend, my love, my unborn cubs, gone. They took everything from me, and now that they were dead, I could take nothing from them. My head fell on her unmoving body, and I cried, mine harmonizing with the others.
How did it come to this?
"Ten days," there was a voice. A stern, gruff voice that seemed to be calling me. I was going insane. I needed to fight it. I found a sizable bolder. Thoughts clouded my mind, telling me of sweet relief and wonderful things. Just a little pain now. I walked over and hit my head on the rock hard.
"Ten days. That's all you have" I continued. Repeatedly smashing my skull on the rocks surface. Blood clouding my vision.
"Get out of my head!" I yelled. I was getting dizzy. Pain was enveloping my entire body, but it was nothing compared to what I felt in my heart.
"Betray the one you love. Murder the one you admire. Run from those you obey. Then, this fate will change,"
"Get! Out!" again. And again. And again. Until I collapsed on the ground dying like those around me.
"Ten days Rial. Ten Days," then, I died.
