Rabbit stiffened, his odd eyes wide when he heard the familiar voice say his name.
He gently let go of the twins, standing in front of them protectively, glaring into the darkness.
Brightly glowing green eyes stared back at him.
Rabbit stared at the Spine as he came inside the lab of the manor since there was a lack of a door.
"S-Spine, don't scare me like that!" he exclaimed incredulously.
"My apologies, Rabbit. Just thought I heard someone in here so I came to investigate" the tall titanium automaton replied, glancing around.
"N-Nobody in here but me!" Rabbit said with a nervous laugh, trying not to shake under his brother's gaze.
Spine raised an eyebrow.
"Why are you shaking?" he asked.
Doll looked terrified, and opened her mouth to say something, but Clocky put a hand over her twin's mouth, both of them still hiding behind Rabbit.
The Spine looked behind Rabbit, who turned wherever The Spine was looking.
"Rabbit, you've not stolen something from the stage again, have you?" he sighed.
"No, of course not!" Rabbit blurted out.
"Ok, so long as you haven't" The Spine reassured him.
It was only then he saw a pair of blue eyes staring at him, one from each side of Rabbit.
Though it was only for a second, it was enough to know that they were not alone.
"I know you're there. Come on out, no need to be afraid" Spine said in a gentle tone, which coaxed Doll and Clocky out of their hiding place.
Out of instinct they clasped each other's cracked hand and looked up at The Spine.
Compared to Rabbit, The Spine was like a futuristic giant, Doll and Clocky were both only up to about his hip height.
Spine looked down at the twins, a little confused, then gave Rabbit an "explain yourself" stare.
Rabbit chuckled nervously again, proceeding to tell the Spine what had happened to the twins and how he found them.
When the story was finished, The Spine wiped a stray drip of oil from his left eye.
"Oh my god...that's terrible! well, good for you for taking them here" he told Rabbit.
"Not a problem!" Rabbit replied in his usual upbeat tone.
"BUT! on one condition; you look after them with our help. No skiving!" Spine said sternly.
"Aye-aye, sir!" Rabbit replied with a mock salute.
Clocky and Doll giggled at the copper male's antics. Spine rolled his eyes.
"Alright then, I'll leave you three to it" The Spine said, tipping his hat and leaving the room.
The three watched the tall titanium robotic guitarist vacate the room in silence, Clocky and Doll taking Rabbit's hands into their own.
