"What?" The Lasat roared.
"He's forgotten us, Zeb." The girl's voice wavered with emotion, and unshed tears glistened in her eyes. She stared straight at Ezra, looking completely betrayed.
Ezra frowned. "Are you really telling me that I've lost my memory? And that that guy is a Jedi?"
She nodded, and the man moved forward, easily lifting one of the trooper helmets from its shelf with the Force.
Ezra's mouth fell open. "But--But that's impossible!"
He shook his head. "Think again, kid."
"Kanan," The Twi'lek stepped forward. "This really isn't important. We need to figure out how we're going to get Ezra to remember."
From where the girl still sat at the foot of Ezra's bunk, she asked, "How?"
The room stayed silent, and Zeb shook his head. "Sabine's got a point. I once knew a Lasat who lost his memory." He looked down. "He had a mate and kids, and he didn't even remember them."
Ezra spoke up, almost afraid to know the rest. "Did he ever remember?"
Zeb slowly shook his head. "Never."
A heavy silence settled over the group, and Ezra felt as if he was suffocating. He was away from home, surrounded by people he didn't know, but should, and he had no memory of...anything.
He looked down. "Can I just be...alone right now? I need to think, and...sort this all out."
The Twi'lek nodded. "Of course, Ezra. We understand."
She inclined her head to the others, indicating that they leave before following them out. Only Kanan stayed. "Whatever happens, kid, know that we...we care about you, and if you don't regain your memory, we'll--"
He looked down, and cleared his throat. "We'll stand by your decision."
Ezra's lips parted at the honesty in Kanan's gaze, and he nodded. "Thanks."
Kanan gave him a small half-smile, and then headed out the door, leaving Ezra to his thoughts.
A few minutes later, he heard the girl, Sabine, yell out something, and strained to hear it.
"No! Chopper, he doesn't--"
The door panels flew open, and an old astromech droid flew into the room, whirring on in happy tones about Ezra's recover. Sabine appeared in the doorway, a desperate look on her face, but Ezra ignored her. "Okay, okay, I'm glad I'm awake too." He squinted, trying to read the numbers on the side of the droid. "L1--""C1," Sabine cut in, and he looked up at her, surprised. She stepped into the room. "C1-10P, or Chopper, as we call him." She rested a hand on its top, but the droid moved, as if shrugging her off. He smiled at the attitude. She shook her head. "He was Hera's, before she and Kanan became a team."
Chopper moved backwards, as if insulted, and whirred a question. Ezra shook his head. "Sorry, Chop. I...don't remember anything."
Chopper whirred in frustration, and then rolled around the room, hitting everything he could with his mechanical arms. "Woah, woah Chop! Calm down!" Ezra held out his hands in a placating gesture. "I'm sure it's only temporary, but..." He glanced at Sabine for reassurance, "maybe you can help me remember!"
Sabine smiled, and nodded. "Yeah, don't you have some holovids of him or something?"
Chopper immediately stopped what he was doing, and projected a holovid of Ezra walking from a grassy Lothal field onto the ramp of a ship with the burly Lasat, Zeb, by his side.
From behind the recorder, the Twi'lek lady walked forward, a small smile on her lips, and met them at the top of the ramp. Ezra smirked up at her. "One meiloorun, as ordered." He handed her the large fruit, and she nodded to him playfully. "Thank you, kind Sir."
The recording went on a bit longer, and Ezra watched with interest and, if he were honest with himself, a bit of wistfulness. He wanted to know what the former Ezra had known. The love of a family again.
Sorry guys, but I had a bad migraine earlier, and wasn't able to update. I know, excuses, excuses, but I'm being honest here.
😉😍 Love y'all!
