One of the coolest things about this school is the living area. When I say living area, I'm not talking about the bedrooms, I'm talking about... well, we call it the living area.
The living area is similar to what other schools would call a common room I guess. Each class had a corridor to itself in the living quarters, where both walls were lined with bedrooms. At the end of the corridor were a set of double doors which opened to the living area. The living room was a huge, modern room with an en-suite kitchen where everyone in the class usually spent their time after school finished.
The dark grey wall opposite the entrance was mounted with a wide, flat screen TV. Three black leather sofas and two armchairs were arranged alternatively in a semi-circle - a shape that was a cross between a shallow U and a wide V. A sleek black and silver coffee table made of glass was placed between the seats and the TV wall and several beanbags were strewn in the same area.
The kitchen was on the left while on the right, there was an open space with a black and white striped rug spread on the floor. The wall next to it was a stretch of glass from the floor to the ceiling, making one huge window. That evening, the floor-length black curtains were held back by a strong cord, allowing the last of the evening light to filter through the windows.
I was lying curled up on the sofa with a copy of Romeo and Juliet in my lap, when two familiar bodies fell down on either side of me, pressing me between them.
"Hey cornheads, there's more room on the sofa. You're crushing me," I said, without even looking up from my book.
"Awww Jazzy, why d'you -" Jacob began.
"Always assume it's gonna be-" Jason continued.
"US?" They chorused.
I sighed, raising my head to look at them. "Maybe because it is always you?" I didn't bother to keep the 'duh' out of my voice.
Jacob and Jason Cobson were the blonde haired, blue eyed twins in my class - you know, the pranksters who told the cheesiest jokes ever? Well that was them. Their parents actually had what could be counted as a sense of humour (unlike the twins' own corny - no pun intended - ones) and had decided to call their first son Jacob Cobson and their second Jason Cobson. Witty, right?
Jacob was the louder, flirty twin while Jason was slightly quieter (albeit still quite loud) one who had a major crush on Rachel since just about forever.
"We're gonna squeeze you-"
"And squish you-"
"Until you turn into-"
"Jazzy juice!" They both laughed.
"I'm pretty sure you'd taste good actually," Jacob added, waggling his eyebrows suggestively. They high-fived each other over me at Jake's comment.
"And... you never fail to disgust me," I wrinkled up my nose and got off the sofa tossing my book onto the sofa.
"Go harass Rachel instead," Skye told Jason with a roll of her eyes. Both Jason and Rachel visibly turned red at that, and I couldn't help but smile. (Hey, it was cute!)
"And find someone else to flirt with Jake," Vicky put in, sounding bored.
"Anything for you, darling," Jake winked.
"Someone who is not me," she replied dryly, raising an eyebrow to give him a I'm-not-in-the-mood-so-don't-mess-with-me-right-no w look. Jacob quelled under it and I marvelled at her - she was the only one who could shut him up like that.
"Nice one, Vic," I said admiringly. "I'm gonna get something to eat. You guys want anything?"
"Can you cut an apple for me please?" Rachel asked. I smiled at the sight of Jason walking over and perching on the arm of her chair.
