Minkus slipped a magazine out of his backpack, the bright colors hurting my e/c eyes. He handed the magazine to Cory. "Perky magazine tells girls everything they want to know about themselves. Therefore, if we read it, we'll know everything about them, too. It's the roadmap to their very souls."
"Not every girl reads 'Perky'." I sat next to Brillo Head on the table, snatching the magazine away from him and flipping through the pages. "Mascara: Use it, don't abuse it."
Shawn glanced at me while I read an entire article about the different ways a woman can use bold lipstick. I snorted at the way they word their sentences. Idiots. The green eyed boy sighed. "As long as I don't have to go to a newsstand and buy it, I might as well borrow it for a couple days."
"Guys with one eyebrow! What's their problem?!" I asked in a valley girl accent: exaggerated and over-the-top girly. "You know, this is the encyclopedia to everything you DON'T want to know."
Shawn took the reading article away from me and stuffed it into his pocket. "Yeah, can you imagine reading this kind of garbage?"
"I know, every time I'm looking for a magazine to hide in my math book, I think 'Sports Illustrated', 'Rode and Track', or wait! How 'bout the lipgloss issue of 'Perky'?" Cory nudged me in the ribs, laughing a bit too hard at my 'joke'. It's evident that he's pretending that my 'joke' was funny so he doesn't get kicked in the gut by yours truly.
The girl from earlier walked towards us, making my joking expression turn into a scowl. "Hey, Shawn!" She completely disregarded me and Cory. Her fake-smile towards us made me hate her even more. Of course, Shawn wasn't catching the signals me and Cory were sending him because he was giggling like an idiot. Shawnzie's back. "Would you like to go to the movies with me?" Shawn began to giggle even harder, his grin wider than I've ever seen it before. He nodded his head frantically. "Great! We can meet at my locker after school and my mom can drop us off at the mall. See ya' later, Terminator." The girl winked at my gu- best friend, skipping away from the three of us. Although she left at a quick speed, I could tell that she was smirking at the dumb-struck expression I had on. What in the hell was that?! My friend kept giggling, pointing at the direction the girl went in.
Cory knitted his eyebrows. "Did she just tell a joke I didn't get?" Shawn stayed with his dumb face and giggly tone as he shook his head. "Shawn, stop laughing!"
"I c-ca-ha-n't, ha! Whoa, I don't even know what just happened." I neared my best friend, my nose still scrunched up from the previous events. "I-I'm feeling really weird, Y/N. Hehehehehe!"
I raised my eyebrows. "You look really weird. Shawn, what's happening?"
"I don't know." He chuckled.
"You're scaring me. Shawn, talk to me."
"I can't talk about it. I can laugh about it, but I cannot talk about it."

Cory and I kicked pebbles on the ground as we waited for Shawn to come back from his date. In my arm I carried the orange basketball, one that we've been using for years. It's sole purpose is to assist us in the game of basketball; me and Shawn against Cory is how it always is. Brillo Head says it isn't fair, but Shawn would tell him 'Am I just supposed to leave my girl to play alone?' I guess he has a new girl now.
