06 Len

It's the next morning.

I open my eyes. The sun is shining bright through the window. I feel comfortable and warm. Soft white blanket covering my body. (The pyjamas were pretty comfortable.)

The bed is too large that it takes a while for me to get off. It's 4 times bigger than my room back in New York, and I'm not kidding. The closet is also 4 times bigger than my closet. I feel so small compared to everything in the room.

"Queen Elena, it's 7 o'clock. You have to get ready for breakfast." Bella, Jenny and Lauren comes wake me up.

"Oh hey, good morning. Breakfast? When does it start? Where should I go?"

"I thought you should know that by now. We'll come get you after 20 minutes."

"Okay. Hey, what should I wear? Suggest one."

"You can't wear what you want. Penny and Kate will come dress you up. We're here just to wake you up. They might arrive at about 7:05."

"Why? Well, I'm the queen. I can do what ever I want. I'll wear what I want. Tell Kenny and Kate they don't have to come here."

"You can't change the rule, Queen Elena. This rule is not what a Queen made. It was there even before the first rule was made and the first Queen was there. And by the way, it's Penny, not Kenny because she is a girl."

A rule that was made before the first rule?

I don't get it. This world called Briseis makes no sense to me. Talking birds, ghost, Lucia, and a rule before rule...

...Hey!

Bella, Jenny and Lauren has left already without a word. I wait for 5 minutes. I lie on my bed and wait. But I fall asleep...

"...na! Elena!"

I hear an unfamiliar voice. It was a red phoenix.

"Um... hi..." I'm half awake.

"You have to get ready! We don't have so much time." The phoenix talks to me. It's voice is... a boy's.

"Eh... hi... are you Penny...?" I ask with a sleepy voice.

"I'm not Penny. Or Kate. They'll come in 10 minutes. Hurry! I have to show you something." He says.

"Yeah, sure..." I get of the bed. The red phoenix helps me. "What's your name?"

"Leonard. Call me Len." Len drags me to the closet. He picks out a red cape from it. "Put this on. You don't have to get changed. Now hurry!"

I run(well I'm half dragged by Len) with Len who is flying. There is no one but me and Len.

"Where are the others?" I ask.

"They're asleep. Bella, Jenny and Lauren probably went back to bed."

"Who are you?"

"The one who could've, almost became the king of this place. I'll explain to you later. We have to run now while everyone's sleeping."

"Why can't they see us?"

"It's private."

We quietly run and fly down the hallway, down the stairs.

"Len, can we stop for a second? I'm too tired!"

"There's no time. Get on my back." Len says, leaning down.

"Are you sure?"

"Yes."

I get on his back. We fly through the Big Gate, out of the castle. We go deep in the maze garden behind the castle.

"Why did we get here?"

"Because there is no one watching. I have to tell you something personal."

"Sure, what is it?"

"Quiet. We can sit."

"Yes, so what is it, the thing you'll tell me?"

"I'm a human."

"What? You're a phoenix. You have wings and red feathers. Are you ill or something?"

"I'm not ill. At all. See? I'm a human." Len says. He turns around and BAM! In a blink he becomes a man. He has black hair and bright green eyes, with thick eyebrows. The unique part is, he has a chain around his neck. Then he stares at me.

"Now do you believe?"
