Personally I do not know much about this ship, however in a way I can see how it would make sense. Although Ruby is innocent and unknowing and Mercury is cruel and sarcastic I can only slightly see their relationship working. From the few fics I read in research for this I found that the healthiness of said relationship is very low. Plus the fact that Mercury betrayed Ruby and her friends and forced her sister to be excluded from the tournament. However even so, the relationship is very dreamlike and I can see that there would be a high possibility of rising tensions for the two. My self, this ship wasn't even thought of, however I can see how some do ship this thermometer of passion.
