"Th- they're not mine," I stuttered.

"Well, duh!" Sam stated. "So, who's are they?"

I breathed a sigh of relief.

"They're my, um, my... Girlfriend's! Yeah, that's it," I lied.

"Oh okay. I was getting worried for a second there!" Sam laughed.

I did a little, awkward laugh because my heart was still beating a million times a second.

"So, you wanna meet the rest of us?"

"Sure," I smiled and followed Sam to the cafeteria.

The cafeteria was large and held many lots of long tables an chairs. Along the far wall was many different metal containers filled with food and warmed by a hot plate underneath. I guessed it was help-yourself. There were boys yelling and laughing, the sounds echoing in the large room. Sam led me to a table and motioned for me to sit down. He sat down too and all the boys who were previously laughing stopped and stared curiously at me.

"Hey guys. This is Ryder," Sam introduced me.

"Um, isn't that a boys name?" One of them asked.

"Yeah? I am a boy," I corrected, nervously.

"Oh, really? Sorry, man. It's just... you look so girly," he said.

"Yeah, I have a twin sister who looks a lot like me and I think that's where I get my girliness from," I lied.

"I bet she's hot!" He grinned.

"Ew, dude, that's my sister!"

"Ew? You even sound like a girl!" he teased.

"Shut up, Jake! Stop teasing the new kid!" Sam said.

"Well, you've met Jake, I guess," Sam told me.

"Hey, you've got the same name as my brother," I told Jake, who just smiled.

"Then there's Jai," he said pointing to one of the guys, he pointed to another, "and Oliver."

"Oh, hey guys," I smiled.

"Hey," they said in unison.

"Are you hungry?" Sam asked.

"Not really. I ate before I came," I explained.

"Okay," he said and left to get his own food. "Sam away!"

"What?" I asked, confused.

"It's his catchphrase," Oliver explained and I nodded.

"So, what's it like being at a co-ed school?" Jake asked.

"It's cool, I guess," I shrugged.

"Hot girls?" He asked, eyebrows raised.

"Man, that's not cool," Jai thumped Jake.

"What? Why?" Jake moaned.

"What matters is their personality, not their looks," Jai told him.

"You and your bloody moments of wisdom!" Jake scoffed. "But really, is there heaps of hot chicks?"

"A few but not many were nice, i answered. "There was this one bitch at St. Cecelia's called Brittany-"

"That's my sister!" Oliver said in horror.

Oliver seemed a bit geeky in his appearance. I mean, his shirt was tucked in. That's never a good sign. And his blonde hair was gelled flat.

"Oh, um, sorry. It's just she was really mean to my sister, Dana," I told them.
