"-and if you have any questions, comments, concerns just call this number." I say finishing off the packet Dr. Wilson gave me about my new job. "Well, that's it." We pull up to our driveway.
Willow puts her car in park then turns it off. I hop out of the car. "But wait, that's not all." I turn around to stare at my very confusing friend.
"Are you deaf or did you just not understand the words coming out of my mouth? Willow honey, I said that's it." Willow's cheeks turn bright red as she smiles sheepishly.
"You, uh, didn't say his, uh, phone number." Willow says playing with the hem of her shirt.
"W-haha-wait a second." I say slowly walking towards Willow. "Do you like Dr. Wilson?" Willow's cheeks get redder. I gasp. "You do!"
"N-no I don't. Stop it." She says walking to the front door. I grab her hand.
"You so do! Don't you dare deny it!" I say smiling like a mad woman.
"What on carnation is going on out here?" We turn to see Joe standing in the front entrance staring at us with a questioning look.
"Oh it's nothing Joe. Just the fact that your dau-" I start to say.
"Nothing Pa." Willow sends me death glare. "Nothing at all."
"Sure...anyway. Ash. How was it? Did you like our surprise?" I smile.
I run up to hug Joe. "Yes. Yes I totally did! It was the best surprise ever." I say pulling away.
"She also may or may not have gotten the job too..." Willow says patting Joe on the shoulder as she walked by us and into the house.
Joe gasps. "Are you serious Ash? Why didn't you say so?" We walk into the house, take our shoes off and sit on the couch.
"Well I was going to tell you myself but someone-" on cue Willow walks in from the kitchen with a glass of milk and shrugs. "Beat me to it."
"Well congratulations kiddo." Joe side hugs me.
"Well I couldn't have done this without you guys." I say smiling at my two favorite people in the world.
"We should celebrate!" Joe exclaims.
"I second that!" Willow says speaking up.
"Well, where should we go?" I ask.
"Hmm. Maybe either to a bar or a movie." Willow says.
"Well I'm practically two weeks away from being able to legally drink, so how about a movie?" I say.
"Sounds great." Joe replies.
"Well what movie do you want to see 'sis'?" Willow asks probably the hardest question on the planet.
What movie do I want to see? Dang that's hard. There's Assassins Creed and the new Star Wars. Oh and The Space Between Us. Ugh this is so hard...
"I really want to go see the new Assassins Creed!" I say making my decision.
"Why that movie? You know I don't like action." Willow groans.
"Well the last time I checked it wasn't you who got the job, so I get to pick the movie. So you're completely welcome to stay home by yourself and be a horrible friend and also miss out on some free popcorn, because I'm paying for all of us." I say putting my shoes back on. "But only if you want to of course." I say standing up to look at Willow.
"Well if your going to put it that way...I'll go." Willow huffs and put her white converse shoes back on.
"Oh and girls," Joe says already ready. We turn to look at him holding the door open for us. "I'm paying." He says smiling heading to the car.
"Thanks Joe!!" I yell after him, bounding down the stairs to the car. "I call shotgun!" I yell hopping in the front seat. I see Willow visibly groan from outside and hop in the backseat. "I know you love me so much!" I say sarcastically.
"Oh yea, I wonder where you got that weird assumption from!" Willow replies sarcastically.
"Hush it girls. We going to go see an amazing movie. So let's enjoy this shall we?" Joe says stopping our argument.
I rub my hands together. "I am so going to enjoy this!"
Joe starts the engine and pulls the car out of the drive way and starts heading in the direction of the movie theater. I reach up to the consul and turn on the radio. Blown Away by Carrie Underwood came on. I start belting out to the lyrics.
Shatter every window till it's all blown awaaaay!
Every brick, every board, very slamming door blown awaaaay!
Till there's nothing left standing,
Nothing of yesterday.
Every tear-soaked whiskey memory blown away, blown away!
She heard-All the sudden the radio turned off. When I looked up to see what happened. I saw the movie theater in front of us and saw Joe and Willow laughing softly. Oh...
Joe turns the car off then we all hop out and walk to the theater. When we walked in there wasn't as many people as I thought would be there. Probably because it's a Tuesday and not a Friday or the weekend. We walked up the the cashier, got our tickets and got one huge bowl of popcorn to share and individual drinks. I got a vanilla coke-a-cola.
We walked up to the lady who tears our tickets. She tore our tickets then pointed to her right and said go to the second one on our left. When we walked in the theater there was barely anybody there so we sat in the middle of the second row of seats from the very top. The best place to sit in my opinion. After a few minutes of us just talking the movie finally began to play.
*****1 hour and a half later*****
"That was amazing! Thank you guys so very very much!" I said once we got inside. "Today was probably the best day of my life thanks to you guys!" I smiled while taking my shoes off.
"Well I'm glad kiddo. Now off to bed you two." Joe said. "And especially you." Joe points to me. "You have to wake up super early tomorrow. Six thirty if I'm not mistaken. So go!" Joe says as he walks into the kitchen.
"He's right. Let's go." I say to Willow as I walk up two stairs at a time.
Once I walk into my room I quickly change into my pjs and hop onto my bed on my back. Today was amazing.
"Hey, you know...you never answered my question from this morning." Willow said walking to my doorway and leaning against the frame with her arms crossed.
Question? What question? I start to rack my brain for an unanswered question...I can't find one. "Mind refreshing my brain Will?" I say confused.
She huffs. "What is your new boss's number..." Her head drops with embarrassment and the blush from this morning returning to her face. Ohhhh...
"Oh yea..." I say in a teasing voice. Willow rolls her eyes. "The paper is on my desk over there." I point to the packet resting on my desk. She smiles.
"Thanks." She mutters. She quickly snatches the packet and speed walks to her room closing her door behind her.
I laugh. Only Willow will like a guy that's probably three years older than herself.
I crawl to the top of my bed and get under the covers turning my lamp off. "Tomorrow's a big day..." I mutter to myself before darkness takes over.
