It was just supposed to be a normal, run-of-the-mill, boring, camping trip. I'm sure a million stories have started out the same way, but seriously, it was only supposed to be a family camping trip. Spring Break, family camping trip. That's all it was supposed to be. My family, and I for some "much needed family time".
How did things get so turned upside down?
One minute, I'm uncomfortably sleeping in my one-person tent, on the cold, hard ground, because Dad insisted on doing everything the "old fashioned way", and the next my zipper is being unzipped and there is this tall, skinny, green, yes, green, man standing in the doorway. I'm not making this up. I mean, seriously, who could make this up?
To make things even strangers, he asked for me to help him, and without hesitation, I agreed to help. I had said sure to a green man. Surely, I've lost it, or gone insane, or maybe this is just some crazy dream.
Now usually, when a green man unzips your tent in the middle of the night, asking for your help, the proper response isn't to say, "Um, okay," but apparently, I'm not all that proper, because before I knew what was going on, I'd agreed to help the green man. Most people would think the proper response is to scream and run, which in all reality, probably is the proper response,
At this point, I know what you're thinking, you're going to tell me, "You're just dreaming," but, yeah, I've pinched myself a dozen times, and trust me, I'm very much awake. "Lennox, no one agrees to help someone they just met, especially if that someone is green." I can just hear my mother's voice now, but there's something about him, I can't quite figure out, plus, Elliot helped E.T., but I guess that isn't a good example; you know, since it was a Hollywood movie, not reality.
How is this my reality...
The green man tilts his head to the left as if it is the most normal thing in the world for him to be green and me to be, well, not green. I sigh, realizing that I've already agreed to help him, whatever is about to happen, it's going to happen. There's not really a chance to turn back, who knows what he'd do to me. Guess I'm helping the green alien man. And you thought this vacation was going to be boring.
"What is it you need from me?" I question through a long yawn, and the man smiles. Weirdly, it isn't a creepy smile, more like complete relief has washed over him. Seriously,Lennox, how do you manage to get yourself into things like this?
