I smiled at my small TV screen, the show I was watching was so cute.Or maybe it was a movie.
I honestly don't remember, I just heard it was good and lucky for me it was one of the dozens of video entertainment that someone decided to put on this plane. I wasn't going to disagree with the statement that it was good, but I wasn't about to say it was the "greatest thing I've ever seen" like I've heard.
"Ladies and gentlemen, the Captain has turned on the fasten seat belt sign. We are now crossing a zone of turbulence. Please return your seats and keep your seat belts fastened. Thank you." The Captain's loud voice interrupted the movie I was watching. I pulled my seatbelt across my lap buckling it in. I turned my head back to my show when the whole plane made a quick shake. I pressed pause before taking off my headphones.
This didn't bother me, airplanes get turbulence. I just like to pay full attention when it does. My mom did it when we traveled together and it wouldn't be the same without someone doing it, I was going to be that someone.
Plus, it's a bit funny to see first time passengers' faces when they think the plane is going to fall.
The plane shook again, this time more. I've felt turbulence, but this was nonstop shaking. The lights to the plane quickly dimmed and I heard a few screams. I looked around seeing stewardess pushing people to their seats and some almost running to the back of the plane to where their seats are.
The speaker chimed back on. "Brace for impact!" Quickly people around me started going into the brace position. I listened to the stewardess yelling. "Brace! Brace!" This couldn't be happening, I'm only 25 and I'm going to die. I couldn't hear anything but screaming. If I wasn't wearing a seatbelt I would be floating, we were going down so fast. I squeezed my eyes shut and suddenly couldn't breathe. I could feel wind push my hair upward. I was going to die. I couldn't move, I couldn't think, I wasn't going to make it.
The unclear sound of a bird was all I could hear. No more screams. My back was in terrible pain. I tried to open my eyes. I blinked over and over until my vision was clear. Looking out to an island I wondered if I was in heaven. I looked down, my body was strapped into the airplane seat. I made it? I was alive?
Where was I?
I looked around my seat, the plane had broken into pieces. Only a few other seats were still connected to the front of mine. I tried my hardest to turn my aching body to look behind me. My eyes grew wide as I did.
There were seats, many bodies sat in the seats as well. There was also blood. Blood stained half of the seats. My breathing went shaky. Were they dead?
"H-hello?" My voice cracked.
No answer.
I unbuckled my seatbelt and placed my shaky feet into the floor, at least what was left of it. The plane was tilted forward, leading onto the sand of this island. Trying to stand I held tightly onto the seat in front of me, squeezing onto the seat my hand felt something cold and wet. I didn't look into the seat. I was too weak now, seeing something would make me let go causing me to fall. I turned my head to the right where the plane had cut off, I wasn't going to see anything on that side. My hands kept grabbing onto the seat in front of the last. At the end of the plane was a gap between the ground and the plane. I jumped off falling onto my knees.
My breathing made me feel like I was going to cry. I slowly looked at my hands, both of them were stained with a deep red color, blood. My breath came in quick sharp bursts of air. My vision became blurry, I started crying. I couldn't stop it.
What was going to happen? How am I going to get home? Where am I? Was I alone? I tried my hardest to stand back up. My legs wobbled as I used my hands to push myself up off the ground. I turned my body facing what was left of the plane. Tears continued to pour down my eyes. I couldn't speak, I couldn't think, I couldn't move. My eyes flashed all around while blinking wildly. I could hardly even see. Moving my leg forward was hard but I needed to make it past the plane to the body of water behind it. I dragged my feet through the sand leaving a indented trail behind me.
Reaching the shore line I fell to my knees placing my hands in the shallow water I tried to rinse off the blood. It stung. I lifted my hands back out looking at them. My right hand had a cut, a big cut. I needed to find something to keep it from bleeding. I looked down at my shirt, cloth will keep it from bleeding.
I carefully started to take my shirt off. My back hurt causing me to wince. I grabbed my shirt in my left hand before looking around for something to bite down on, this was going to hurt. Nothing. I breathed out before taking in a deep breath and tying my shirt as tight as I could around my hand. More tears ran down my cheeks as I bit the end of the shirt, helping pull it tighter.
I let go griping my right hand in my left.
"Fuck!" I screamed out in pain, tears blurring my vision. My breathing became loud.
"Why me!"
