Oh, the air! It must be no where above twenty degrees!! And with the tears streaming down my face, I'm surprised I'm not an icicle!

I've forgotten... Why am I on the bow? How come--

The memories flood back, the dam has broken. I look around and see Molly, by my side as always.

"Where's your father?!!" The sound is so close to my eardums they shake, and scanning the crowd I can't find an answer to her question.

"He must've," I pause. "He must've gone to get Sherlock!!"

My hypothesis is proven faultless as they appear on the stairs, taking them three at once. All around us, crew members bellow to Enter the lifeboats!! Stay calm!! Quickly, orderly now!! Women and children first!! Molly hops down the few feet into one, and eyes me expectantly. But-- I-- I can't leave without my parents!! Looking back I see them kiss, softly, and I now understand just the sheer love they feel towards each other.

"Go on," Sherlock whispers to the back of my head. The tears sting my eyes, and the world is a blur. I turn around and wish I hadn't as I look into his blue-gold eyes, more bloodshot than ever, tears melting his usually hard features.

"We'll be together again soon, I promise," Father adds, his voice breaking.

  I never trust promises.

My cheeks, frozen from the winds and hot from the waterfall of salty tears, flush.

"But-" I start, "You CAN'T!!" I manage to squeak out the words between sobs. "What about you and Sherlock??"

Father grabs my shoulders, planting a warm kiss on my forehead, and I just know that's the last one I will get from him. Sherlock does the same, then he starts mumbling unintelligibly.

"I promise."

No! Stop it!! Tell me I will wake up any second, this just another nightmare??

Nothing happens. I don't wake up, I don't black out. I stand, and cry.
~~
It takes all my willpower and coaxing from Molly to push myself into the boat, knowing I'm leaving my worlds behind. I continue to bawl and Molly just hugs me. Suddenly, unexpectedly, a man jumps into the boat despite numerous protests from the crew. I know him from...somewhere. Probably saw him in the hall. But oh, all this moving!! How do they expect us to fit? We make room, becoming extremely salty sardines in no time.

Two angry hands come into contact with my shoulders, and the last thing I see before flying out of the safe haven is the face of the man from my nightmares, pale and despicable.

"I owe you a fall," he rasps, softly, "See, falling is just like flying except there's a much more permanent destination. And its not the fall that kills you. No. Its the landing."

The landing, landing.. echoes through my thoughts as i fall, and the world slows.

I hear my heartbeat, pounding in my ears, and I scream until I hit the black water below.

I hear as I sink, muffled voices shouting "ROSIE!!"

  I see red.

  And its cold.

  So. Cold.
