What Now?

My Life

My name is Katie Lights. I am a sophomore about to be junior- in Anthem High School. I have a little 6-year-old sister named Bonnie. And two wonderful parents called Stacy and Ruben Lights. My life is amazing I have all I can ever ask for. Wonderful friends and the most amazing boyfriend named Joshua. I love my whole family and I don't know what I'd do without them. ~

"Wake up," my mom said as she walked into my room and opening the blinds. I groan and slowly get up.

"Whmmdmyimit?" I mumbled into my pillow. "It's Friday the last day of school now hurry up and make it great," said my mom ask she kissed me on the forehead. I smiled weakly, as she left my room I saw my little sister run to my mom with a white bunny in her grasp.

As I got dressed for my last day I look to my side and see luggage along with a sleeping bag. We are going camping right after school to kick off summer vacation.

I grabbed my phone and checked my feed before doing my hair. It was long curly and dark brown. We all mostly have the same hair we are all light tanned and Hispanic.

I wasn't even looking at the feed I was just scrolling. Then a video played.

'This is KGNS news. There has been a fire right next to the city hall." I looked at my phone with my hand still in my hair. There was a fire in a building and it was heading towards a tree. As the camera was turning back to the reporter I saw a man in a torn up Hawaiian shirt and khaki shorts. He ran to the lady, grabbed the microphone and said "This is only the beginning, I have seen it there are people eating other people. Take care of your self these are sick beings don't get infected and don't get bit" the lady got up and reached for the microphone. "GOD BLESS YOU ALL!" He yelled as he was taken away by police officer.

I put my phone down eyes wide open and continued doing my hair. Maybe we shouldn't go camping...

*time skip*

I went to the dinning room to see if there was breakfast. All there was, was toast and butter, along with some milk. I sat down and grabbed some toast and bit it slowly nibbling as I saw my mom putting her luggage on the floor close by the door. "Did you put yours here too Kate and your sister's?" "No," I said with a mouth full of toast. I took a slip of milk, cleared my throat and said "I forgot." "Well you better hurry up and do or you'll miss your bus and I'm not taking you." I sighed and shoved my food down my throat and drank my milk. I almost choked but got up and ran to my room and my sister's getting our cases. I placed it down and grabbed my purse. "Bye mom bye dad!" I didn't even wait for a response I was so late.

I ran to my bus stop, it was already there and it was about to leave. So I hauled ass and barely made it stop for me. "I'm" I couldn't really breath "so" I panted "sorry" I gasped as I sat down. It was to early for this track for later.

My mom sent me a message

"don't forget to go straight home so we can head out by 2"

"Ok mom," I replied

I groan as I sit down in my homeroom "I just wanna go homeeeeee" I put my head on the desk and plop my handbag on the floor. "AH don't do that it's a nice purse don't ruin," says Jessica my best friend since the 4th grade. The side of my face forms a smile and I pick up my head and look at her. "Whew another year, I love you Jess." "I love you too Katie," she says as she picks up my purse from the the floor. "But I love this purse way more" she giggled. I sighed then smirked. "If you like all that much it's yours" she gasped then realized what I did. "Beauty and the beast, still mine right?" She smiled holding it away from to admire it more. "It not 100% yours but I'll lend it to you" she frowned and shrugged "at least I'll have it, for the summer?" "For the summer", I declared.

The bell rang and since it was the last day we had only two classes first and last block. Oh lucky me...

I had track last period, so the coaches put us in lines and rows so we could do sprints.

"Hey Kate look at this," my friend motioned to her phone. "Its the end its coming, grab your family be-" a man said on her screen he had blonde hair with khaki shorts and a ripped up white v-neck he looked like a surfer. 'sir come with me' a man and a woman officer said picking him up and taking him away struggling. "Wait please listen! Be safe american and may god bless!" He said until he was no longer audible being dragged away but the policemens. She sighed "I'm worried Kate". "Hey its gonna be okay Jess" I gave her a reassuring smile and hugged her tightly. "What ever happeneds know I'm here for you. Now c'mon practice!" I laughed as I motioned to race her. Was that the same guy from earlier? No I was from another state. Weirdos...

"Hey girls," says a deeper voiced male that I could recognize from a mile away. I smiled and braced myself. I felt arms grab me by the waist as I was lifted up in the air and spun around. I laughed and so did my boyfriend Joshua. He was 6 ft. Tall and had broad shoulders, very "rip" if I do say so myself. He had the biceps of a...I don't even know. Not that big though. I shook my head. I can't help myself when I'm around him. I had to go but I hugged Jessica tightly and told her I'd see her when we came back. Then I kissed Joshua and told him the same thing. I waved goodbye and said I love you too both and got on my bus home. I should've said I'll miss you..for It'll be the last time I'd see them again..
