My name is Lacey Alderman. I'm 17 years old, and I go to Northwest high. I'm 5'6 and classified as an outcast. I have waist length, wavy black hair and grey eyes. And I can see ghosts. No! Don't run away! Ok, good. I'm a freak, I know. Sorry for scaring you.
~~~
Beep Beep Beep!
My alarm goes off. Another day of bullies to come. I get out of bed and slide my feet into my slippers.
"Hey, Lace!" Esmeralda Dare says.
"Hi Esmeralda. What's up?" I ask.
Esmeralda is a ghost. She died of an axe to the throat, that's all I know, she doesn't like to talk about it much.
"I am! Hehe!" She floated upward. Her emerald green dress billowing outward.
"Haha! Well, I have to get dressed, if you don't mind, um..."
"Oh! Right!" She smacked her forehead, and turned around.
"Thanks Esmeralda!"
"No problem, Lacey!"I dress myself in a grey t-shirt and blue jeans. My hair is a mess. It has snarls a plenty, it looks like a rat's nest today! I run a brush through my ragged hair.
"Fishtail braid it, Lace!" Esmeralda says.
"Ok! Give me a sec... alright! Let's do this!" I fail almost immediately. "Esmeralda! How do you do this!" I complain.
"Relax, Lacey! Ok, I'll do it."
"Alright. I trust you!"
She started fiddling and tugging with my hair.
"Done!" She said, a while later.
"Cool, I'm gonna go eat breakfast. You coming?"
"You betcha!"~~~
I make bacon and eggs for breakfast.
"Oh, Esmeralda, what will I do? I have a huge test today!"
"Don't worry! I will help you! No one else can hear or see me right?"
"Right..."
"So, I will whisper answers in your ear!"
"Okay... will you just float above me?"
"Yup! Or beside you! All day I will be with you!"
"Okay, fair enough."
"Great! Now, go get your jacket on!"
"Okay! Don't rush me!"
"Hehe!"I pull on a black leather jacket lace up my black doc martens. I flip my braid over my shoulder so I doesn't get caught in my bag.
"It seems the theme is punk rock black?" Esmeralda asked.
"Sorta, it's just that I like black. Easy to hide in."
"Okay, if you say so, Lace!"
"Let's go to school, and try not do die. Remember! I can't talk to you at school or I will get bullied more. Let's try not to make that happen."
"Kay Lace. Let's go!"~~~
"Where's your little ghost friend, loser?" Amy Northwest, the school mean girl teased. Her icy blue eyes sending a shiver down my spine. Her blond hair curling diva-ishly. (Is that even a word? I don't know.) Today, she wore a hot pink dress and matching heels and purse. I hated her.
"Go away." I mutter.
"Hmm? What did you say? Repeat that again please, loser."
"I have a name." I say.
"Yeah... but I don't care, and I asked you a question. Where's your ghost friend?"
"Go away." I say again.
"What?"
"I said, GO AWAY!" I shout at Amy. Everyone around us stares.
"Sorry can't do that."
I push past her, stepping on her toes, making them all muddy. I twist my foot. And walk away. Getting away from the others watchful gaze.
"Ow! That hurts!" She called after me.
"Sorry." I say, hiding a grin.
